What the hell is wrong with boss fights all of a sudden? There have been boss fights in games for almost as long as there have been games.
Didn't you grow up with 80s/90s arcade conversions like the rest of us? ;)
I've never been a fan of boss fights, and no, my gaming pedigree were the point and click games of yore. I was never a
huge fan of down-the-line shooters.

The Flood has colour variations? I thought they just cannibalised corpses left around.
Bad sentence on my side. The 4 original enemies had color variations. There were blue, red, and gold Brutes. These runts also had three colors I think. Pretty much like Diablo, different colors were generally more difficult.

Give an example how BS isn't a linear corridor shooter. It has the same things as Doom 3 AFAIK - backtracking, central hubs, multiple paths, and optional areas.
Are you fucking serious? You're seriously asking me to tell you what's different between Bioshock and Doom 3? Seriously? You're not just fucking with me, or trying to be funny, or something?

Yeah, but still. It's just 4 basic enemies. If there were more enemy diversity I could possibly find one that's fun to actually fight. HL2 may be mostly zombies, Combine and antlions but I actually enjoyed shooting the damn things.
Also, as an aside, anyone who seriously thinks a colour swap constitutes "enemy diversity" is a shitbrained cymbal-smashing spinfucker.

Yes, Yes, Yes, no, no, and no.

Aside from the fact that they both want to be System Shock 2, and both fail in that regard, they're not all that similar.
Doom 3 is straight-up linear. There is virtually no exploration. Bioshock is very exploratory, though it's a bit underformed.
Bioshock is linear, sure, but only in that you can't explore the whole city from the word go, or even half the city. You do it district by district. But that's okay, because SS2 did the same thing. It's still not the on-rails shooter that Doom 3 is. Secret areas do not a non-linear game make. Doom 3 also does not have "hubs"- there's a few times where your path will loop back to where you started, but it's not like you find yourself in a room and have multiple choices as to where to go.

Bioshock is linear
Funny how after so vehemently attacking him for daring to suggest such a thing, you then go and agree with him.

This is where I disagree. To me, it was very forced through each district.

Being linear and being a linear corridor shooter = 2 different things. Bioshock is linear in the same way the System Shock, Thief, and Deus Ex games are, as opposed to the way something like Half-Life 2 or Doom 3 is.

I seriously question if you played past Welcome to Rapture then, since even the second level of the game only requires you to explore about half the level to finish it.

Sin: Emergence didn't sell and I think the company that made it is now making kids games or something like that.
No, it did sell pretty well. The problem was that the profit margin wasn't great because a lot of time was spent developing tools for producing further content. It ended up looking like skimpy returns for the effort involved. Add to it financial troubles that had been building for a while and you have a company looking for 'big hit' when they got 'good success' instead.
What is perhaps even more silly is a large chunk of the work on episode two was already done when it was canned...

Even a partial agreement is completely at odds with your attack on denisv.
