The thing about Portal (for me) is that in this day and age when games are getting stupidly long, more rehashed, disappointing, designed just to be addictive, oh god I can go on and on... along comes Portal and it brings me back to the good ol' days of gaming when games were creative and fun!
And Scots A+++++

I think I'm the only person on Earth who thinks Portal, while fun, is nowhere near the be-all end-all of gaming like so many other people, some of whom who never even played it, seem to think.
Yes, it's funny, hahaha, YOU CAN STOP QUOTING IT NOW
once again, dethtoll...I agree. :cool:

The others I agree with, but I think games are getting stupidly short these days. Single player campaigns are over within hours. SP gets shorter cause now they can "patch it up" with a good multiplayer. Of course, people who don't care that much about MP gets shafted.

The reason SP is getting shorter is the increasing demand for detail and graphics I'd say.

I loved Portal the first two times through, but what's the point now?
Koki on 23/11/2007 at 18:26
Oh Portal was great for the first two hours, but it went downhill from there.
Still, it was pretty intense, 5GB in two hours, that's 0.654MB per second. Blows your head off.
I wonder what will Valve do for EP3 now, I mean it's hard to top two hour long game. Maybe it will be just a boss battle and credits?
mothra on 24/11/2007 at 01:11
yeah, it's a boss battle broken up in 4 chapters. you know, first we start to tease, then we show you what to use to kill it, then u have to find it, then you have to go all the way back and fight it.

I wouldn't be surpised if that was roughly how it went...
Portal is awesome though. Actually funny, inventive, it may be short, but that means every inch of it is polished. I'd kinda compare it as thus, while I may have great big epic novels that I put up there as some of my favorites, Portal is like that short story that you read one time, and absolutely loved, and will always have a place in your heart. Not ambitious, not epic in scope, but just really well executed, and good entertainment.

I agree with your assessment of Portal Hidden. It's just so... fresh.
But what is going on up in here? Seems the last 3 posters are pre-dissing Ep3 for some reason. Wait, don't tell me you guys predicted exactly what was in Ep 1 and 2 or that somehow Valve are really predictable and I don't get it. I highly doubt either is true and I'm baffled as to your dis dishing.
