I agree wholeheartedly.
Thanks.

The vivid and expansive environments of the Half-Life 2 games
more like far less detailed and sloppily designed.

can't match the visceral thrill of the long sequence of monster closets
Actually, after the beginning they tend to just teleport in. I hope you're not suggesting HL2's ecology is any better?

and two living characters encountered in Doom 3.
Sometimes I wish the ones in HL2 would just die. Thanks Valve, for giving us the most obnoxious romance in any AAA game ever.

A point of extreme consternation for me is that Valve ripped off Doom 3's level design
I was taking about gameplay, not "HL2 is just Doom with gamma turned up lololol!" You realise taking things literally like that is a sign of a certain mental disorder?

I have to applaud id software for ensuring that they didn't copy Valve - intentionally or otherwise - by making their game any fun at all to play.
Kind of like Ep2 is fun by giving you an immortal sidekick, right? Doom 3 has those too actually, but they're only around for a few minutes.
EvaUnit02 on 21/12/2007 at 07:38
The Ravenholm level of HL2 alone has superior design than all of Doom 3.
Koki on 21/12/2007 at 09:46
Goddamn everyone is ripping off Doom 3 if I was iD I'd sue them all seriously

No it doesn't.
Jason Moyer on 21/12/2007 at 13:10
I think Ravenholm is a lot more enjoyable than it should be because it's the first part of the game that isn't utter bullshit. Thankfully things pick up again later, but my god the levels before/after it are horrible.

Sloppily designed? You're serious about that? Really?

You know who's great? Carlos Mencia.
Teleport, monster closet, what the fuck ever, they're both behind you usually. And yes, HL2 was better because it wasn't cheap- there were few "monster closets" per se, but rather enemies (particularly Combine) were often funnelled in by logical means.

I'm pretty sure the moon landing was faked.
More like the most subtle and understated "romance", if you could even call it that. Just some innuedo, to be perfectly honest. If innuedo displeases you, then perhaps you should seek employment in a church.

You realize not getting the point of Kerin's statement is a sign of diminished mental capacity?

Extended warranty? How can I lose?!
That would be perfectly logical... if Alyx were actually immortal. Try letting antlions rush her for a few seconds.

I didn't think much of HL2 either, to be honest, but I wouldn't say Doom 3 was better. Quake 4 was though.
I'm sure this argument's been had a hundred times before anyway...

And phrasing things poorly is a sign of stupidity - as is not liking Half-Life 2. Good to know I can post a rebuttal on the internet without being accused of mental illness.
God, Doom 3 sucks.

That bad, huh? A lot of people said Q4 sucked, but I kinda enjoyed it anyhow. Or at least bits of it.
Doom 3 have any redeeming qualities or should I continue to ignore it?

The Dark Mod? :p
