JonesCrusher, make sure new_mantle is enabled in your config file.

I'm stuck in the sewers near the beginning of part 3. No matter what I try I cannot climb out. Too frustrating! I guess I'll head back into real life. :)

To everyone who can't make that mantle at the beginning where you exit the water - I just tested and it's impossible without new_mantle enabled, but you can do it the first time with new_mantle enabled. You should be playing missions with it enabled these days anyway, as most newer missions will be designed with it on and may have impossible mantles if you don't play with it enabled.
Look in your T2 folder and find the cam_ext.cfg file, and open it in a text editor. Find the line
Code:
; enable new mantling code
;new_mantle
and remove the semicolon in front of new_mantle and save it, then restart Thief 2. You should be able to load a previous save.

Thanks Yandros! As usual, you have come to the rescue. New_mantle works great and I've finished the mission. Very enjoyable from start to finish. I'll probably replay to find the 5 trains I missed. Thanks again!

Incredible!! It works!
I was about to hit the computer and now everything is fine.
In all these FMs at the years before there was no need for such a editation. Why now?
Is it because the new dark engine?

We tried a few things and concluded that a better video card is the best solution
Not for me. I've got a GTX 980, 8 GB of 1866 RAM, and 4.0 Ghz i7 processor. But when I face the train track area in this mission I get 30s-40s frame rate. Sorry, but low frame rates like that are a deal breaker for me. I had to delete Bad Blood 2.:(

The Dark engine is over a decade old. What are you expecting? 120 FPS? Full motion video is only 30 FPS and film is 24 FPS. Quit looking at numbers and just enjoy the game.
cavador_8 on 11/12/2014 at 03:14
I expect around 60 FPS on a GTX 980. It breaks the immersion for me if I start lagging.
llanita on 31/12/2015 at 14:45
I'm lagging also. In fact, I quit the game to see what had started running in the background that would make the game so laggy. Nothing was running. It's not very laggy but its a bit laggy. jumpy sort of thing
Ricebug on 31/12/2015 at 20:31
I feel the pain. I tried shoving as many solids and block-ables into the scenery to avoid the lag, since not everyone has a Cray II. I have an nVidia GeForce GTX 780 and a 5 ghz AMD CPU and suffer no lag except when playing My Little Pony. :p
It's my daughter's game! Really!
