Okay, here goes.
Had a slow and groggy wake-up, as has been happening lately, and didn't get out of bed till about 9:40. I checked e-mail, dorked around on the internet, and made an eye exam appointment before heading out around 10:10. It was snowing horizontally directly against me, and I had to walk hunched over to avoid getting snow in my eyes.
Got the the library and went to grab the sole copy of The Name of the Rose, but some jackass had marked up the whole thing in pencil. I then got on the bus to go to my class at neighboring Amherst College, an advanced poetry writing workshop. Did the regular Monday routine of meeting a friend at the library and going to Amherst's very nice dining commons for a breakfast/lunch combo (my meal: two raspberry muffins, a bowl of fruit and granola, grapes, PB&J, and a cherry cola brownie).
Went to poetry class, went over the assignment for this week, and workshopped some poems. Downside was getting feedback from the great Richard Wilbur on two poems - he really liked one, but referred to another as an "artless narrative," though this is partially because he's a rigid formalist and it was free verse.
Got back and played Morrowind for an hour (my current addiction). Stopped, showered, and edited a paper for a Division III (read: senior thesis) peer workshop I'm in. Played more Morrowind (my schoolwork is largely on hold till tomorrow, due to my revision schedule being tied to a meeting then). Headed out and read The Name of the Rose some. Hosted a meeting of the Public Health & Safety Committee at 5:30.
At 7:15 I joined my D&D campaign, which is an awesome, emergent-gameplay oriented campaign led by an amazing dungeon master. We spent about 30 minutes solving a riddle. It was pretty great.

Just got a stainless steel smoker so spent the afternoon smoking some nice fatty cuts of pork belly over hickory woodchips. Then ate them with corn on cob, sweet potato chips and lemon mayonnaise. Quite good.

Woke up at usual 4:40 am and watched some shit I DVR'ed recently until I left for work @ 6am. I go in early Tuesdays because that is when the new DVDs/CDs/books are released. They have to be up @ or near opening time. Nothing too interesting dropped this week, though I saw that Black Swan arrived for next week. I wanna check that out sometime.
Stocked those, checked on a couple stores that have new employees in them to make sure everything was getting done. It wasn't. Went home @ 12 noon out of frustration, and am frantically replying to emails and phone calls from home base instead of the office.
Playing a bit of Godfather: the game right now. This game would have been better as a linear, non-sandbox game. IMHO, the sandbox 'activities' are rather bland and tiresome which contrast with the awesome story-missions.
About to go to the butcher and shop for a couple steaks for supper. Not sure what cut I am in the mood for, but I have some baked yams and Caesar salad ready to go alongside of it, whatever it ends up being. Probably a Porterhouse, and a bloody one at that.

Went to bed about 0300 Tuesday, and got up about 1100. Checked the mail and a HDD I ordered on line arrived.
It's a quick link Passport for a friend. I'll be installing it later today for the Reverend. Tonight I'm off at 1800 to setup for a night of music at Father's Pub and Grub in Santa Ana. So I'll spend the day checking the amps and cables, tuning the guitars, and setting up the recording devices.
Breakfast was a slab of London Broil (Rare), six eggs over easy, toast, milk and some biscuits and country gravy. Still deciding what to do for lunch. I'll be getting home about midnight so I'll probably do a quick stir-fry, eat, check the computer, edit a little music from the recordings and hit the sack. All in all that should be about 0300 or 0400.
Tomorrow another music gig to set up for so, again, tomorrow will be same shit, different day. :P

Its from a camping store actually, only cost $50. You can get a variety of wood shavings as well for different flavours, so next I'm gonna try some sheoak chips, maybe with some chicken wings. It uses a methylated spirits burner, so very simple to operate. Had a lot of fun with it, you really feel like an old school bush chef or something.

I smoke salmon frequently. I use a "little Chief" smoker most times, but I also have a large smoker that will handle 20 or 30 pounds of pork, which I slow smoke most times.
The "little Chief" and its cousins have bags of prepared shavings you can get in a variety of flavors. My favorites are Cherry, Apple, and Hickory.

pro-tip : dont put the smoker near where clothes are hanging to dry :(
(unless you like smelling like sweet sweet hickory)
