Who exactly are the Precursors?
I keep hearing about Precursor time period, the Precursor inventions and co-relating with the Mechs.
If sombody were to shine a little more light on this, I would greatly appreciate it.
I think that the remedy might be is to play it again, and this time read, pay attention, and cut off my hands if i ever go to Ctrl Alt Shift End in any order.

The Precursor's were a society that vanished long before the history of Garrett's time.
They were a technological society, and it is hinted that they destroyed themselves with some horrendous power such as a nuclear device.
There is no specific information about them, thier technology or social structure.
The only evidence of thier existance is from artifacts found in archeological sites.
The artifacts are rare and valuable to collectors much as pre-columbian and other ancient art objects and tools are to us in the RL.
But no real data exists about thier origin, existance, period of time, or end.

I always assumed they were the inhabitants of the Lost City. AFAIK there's only one reference to them as "Precursors" in TDP: the note you can buy in the loadout screen before The Lost City which allows you to pick up the masks as loot. Might be a couple other oblique references from a pre-mission Keeper quote, too. Been awhile since I've played TMA, but I'm sure there's plenty of references to them there, especially in connection with the KD site.

The "lost City" was a major center for them, but there really is little information even in TMA. Cavador refers to things he found and information he has discovered but nothing specific is mentioned.
No archival library left by them, no "History of City XXX" or such. There are a few notes about the ruler and the gladitorial contests and some political machinations, but in very limited detail.
You can make assumptions based on sketchy data:
They were a monarchy.
They had electricity (generated by unknown means).
They had theater.
They caused thier own destruction by releasing powers they could not control.
They were capable of making mechanical devices.
They created obje de art and monuments. *the steles in the city*
They were a little bloodthirsty. (the gladatorial area)

And that's one of the coolest things about TDP &, to some extent, TMA -- the way they'd give you little pieces but never the whole picture.

One more, Why is it called Karath Din (sp?) anyhow? That will be all.

Why is it called "Denver". Who the hell knows. The designers could have called it Hot Twat.

It's been awhile since I've played the OMs, but where is the evidence that the precursors were "a technological society?" I don't remember any mechanical devices, and I wouldn't necessarily assume their lights were generated by electricity. From what I recall of the Lost City level, the Precursors were downright primitive.

Their technology is what Karras uses in the Servant project - the masks and cultivators are Precursor tech. Also, not the illuminating crystals spread out around the Lost City. They also make a small electric hum when powering up.

I thought that the nature of the cataclysm that put their existance to an end was not specified. Where did you get that info?
