I've been looking all over as to what might be causing this and I've tried everything from manually forcing the game to run as a single core, reinstalling drivers, reinstalling software, patching... I'm very stuck and very confused as to why my Thief keeps crashing. If I start T3 up before doing anything else or using any other programs, I can play for about half an hour before it'll just shut down on me. This usually happens when I go to the save menu and then I hear the menu sound loop over and over because it's crashed. However, when I hit ctrl+alt+del, end task and then restart T3 I get this bizarro message I've never seen before. Right as it goes to the first menu a screen immediately comes up, so fast that you can't even click new game or load game, with a fancy text message saying
"Cry, Brethren, for the Betrayer is come. Your hands will be cripped, and you will Perish as the wretched Outcast in the Bleak unwritten. And you will know the face of the Destroyer. - Recovered text from the Prophecitus, missing for 132 years"
I think I might know why this is coming up, but it probably wont be smiled upon. I scratched my disc 2 and couldn't get the program to reinstall (CRC error) when it started freezing up so I went to an unmentioned site and downloaded the game but only burned disc 2. I used the factory CDs 1 and 3, but could the copied disc 2 be what's causing this message? A spoof that the person who hosted the files embedded? It's not even the play disc but it's the only thing I can come up with.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The "Cry Brethren" message is the start of the cinematic that you get if you stay on the main menu long enough. Just skip it and you should go back to the main menu.

Really? I hadn't ever seen it before until after I reinstalled the game with the less than factory CDs. Well, at least the game isn't accusing me of stealing... no pun intended. Thanks

If you wait on the menu long enough it should play automatically. If you cant skip it, just wait until it plays to the end.
