How do you think the game will turn out? I guess in the next two weeks a bunch of reviews will appear, but right now there aren't many.
Personally, I think the game in terms of quality might compare to the old Fallout games in roughly the same way BioShock compares to SS2.
I suspect it will look fantastic and feature some pretty fun combat, yet will utterly fall short on the style and delightfully twisted nature of its predecessors. It will appear to be trying too hard. But it will get an E for effort.
What do you think?

I'm picking up my copy on the 28th but I probably won't be playing it for a while until I get a new PSU. (Yes I still haven't gotten one- no $.) That said I think I'll probably enjoy it more than I did Morrowind/Oblivion.

I wanna pass by GAME tomorrow to reserve a copy. Looks like it's gonna be out on the 30th for the EU. To be honest, if it turns out to be a bit better than Oblivion overall, and significantly better in the narrative department, I'll consider I've gotten my money's worth - I don't expect it to be anything revolutionary, just want it to be decent.
I just hope Bethesda end up rolling some proper modding support for it as soon as it's possible.

Well, I haven't played a Fallout game before, but I have played Oblivion, and based on that game I predict that Fallout 3 will get near universal praise (especially for the console version), have a huge game world, and will look very pretty, but will feature a dull storyline, clunky combat, laughable voice-acting, and if I pick it up at all, I probably won't finish it.

I'll leave it a few months and then see what everyone says about it. I don't want to pay for another Blazing Saddles moment and run in like a pig in mud, only to discover that everything is made of cardboard.

I think it looks alright in pictures but as soon as it's moving it looks terrible. Why in the fuck does Bethesda have such terrible animators? Consequentially the combat look naff due to the shoddy animation.
I'm sure the game will be alright and get plenty of praise but I won't be getting it unless there certain people are won over.

Except it's not really a perfect score, as somewhat ridiculously, OXM's scoring system goes to 11.
Like Nigel's amps in Spinal Tap :erg:
Apparently they started receiveing angry letters after dishing out a few too many 10s, at which point they claimed their system went to 11.

"Why not just save 10 for absolutely perfect games and use 9 for everything else?"
"... This goes to 11."

If you like Morrowind/Oblivion you'll probably enjoy it much, at least i do. Die-hard FO fans who hasnt played anything else than FO1-2 for the latest 9 years or so will be (and already are, see NMA forums) very, very angry :cheeky:
