Ok,Here it is everything you need to know to Excel at Morrowind-GOTY!!!
I know this Strategy Guide is going to get alot of attention so let me say first off, please play the way you chose, the author is just giving you one way to play(The right Way) there are of course other, almost as good ways to play.Second this guide is coming from a 70+ level High Elf so be sure to listen up and you will have a much more enjoyable experence. Also this is not a walkthru I am just giving general hints not specific, you will find this here kinda stuff.
Preface: The first thing you need to do in Morrowind is Create your Character, Choose what you like, but this guide is going to supose you picked a High Elf, with the Signs and stuff adding Spellcasting power and Magic as your primary Weapon(it usually won't be but..) and picking all magic; Longsword, lockpicking and Speechcraft as your primary skills.
You Need to know this first off "The Blades Guild" is the main quest story line(the game doesn't tell you this) and if you do nothing but them, you will miss a large part of the game (like 75%) so join a few guilds and houses and explore the countyside.
Now for the Tips:
1. Take your time,(there is no time limit to complete the game) alot of the skills can be built up in a private room(so as not to accidently hit someone), if your a wizard casting fireball spells at a wall is just as good(to build your destruction school ability) as hitting Monsters with them,(and faster) get fairly close to the wall so you increase your refire rate) rest when you shoot your wad and repeat.
2.Try to "Double UP" on your skills for example cast (not in a town)an Ancestor Ghost and then "Heal" him with a low level restoration spell over and over, that way you improve both your Conjuoring and Restoration at the same time.I don't believe you get any more "Practice" points for using more powerful spells, so a ancestor ghost is as good as a Golden Saint for uping your skills.( and you can cast alot more Ghosts then Saints.)
3. When your skills improve enough for you to go up a level, ALWAYS pick the abilities that have the highest Multipliers (it's like getting money for free) this will be based on what you do, for example; if you hack alot of Monsters your Strength will increase, use magic and intelligence will get the multiplier,ect..
4. Without a shread of a doubt BY FAR the most powerful skill in the game is Alchemy, this thing will make you rich and keep you alive (buy the best gear as soon as you can until you can aqqire a full Grandmasters Set) then go to a farm or a Shop and load up on the ultra cheap elements that make up Restore Fatigue and Restore Health Potions, your intellegence and skill will play a part in your sucess rate but at the cheap cost of the basic ingrediance, you should start with trying to make like a 50 potions min. at a time. The potions you do make will start out crappy and not worth a fortune but soon you will be making ALL potions better then anything you can buy, worth alot, like 170+ gold for a restore fatique potion and your sucesses rate will "eventually" become 100%. Just make simple cheap potions to sell but make COMBO Monster potions for yourself Like a Restore Health/Fatigue/Magic combos, just me carefull of adding ill effects. Also I have noticed the potions you make seem to weigh less then the ones you buy and this can be an important thing when your carrying hundreds of them.
5. The second most powerful skill is Enchantment (it might be number 1 if it were easier to do) You can do it yourself for free(with a 95+ chance of destroying your Gem) or pay an Enchanter an obscene amount of money to do it for you (garenteed success) Now here is the Rub; money is tight in Morrowind, not in the sense of never having any but in the fact that nobody else has any "Real" cash. I know people will tell about some mud crab that has like 10000 gold but when a sword is worth 120000 do you want to sell it for 10000? With high level Enchantings costing like 100000+ and you being unable to trade directly for it... So what to do... well once you level up 5-10 levels head to Mohrn Hold and go to the Enchanter on the second floor of the Craftmans guild there and do a barter arrangement, where you sell him a bunch of glass swords, loaded soul gems or somesuch, then buy your enchanting and with the large amount of spare change buy back a ton of the glass items and leave them of the floor on his place, they ain't going anywhere( you have to do this in one deal) another idea (early on) it seems the game "Gives" you one good sword enchanting, pretty easily(don't know if its a bug or what) but get hold of a golden Saint gem and a Diadetic Di-Katana and enchant it with a cast when strikes 45 or whatever "straight up" shock damage(I don't like to "wide spectrum" damage) that should work nicely, also you can try later, when your Alchemy skills are better to make like 10+ fortify intellegence potions and a few luck ones too, drink them all at once and save then try doing the enchanting yourself with 1000+ intellegence.(I wonder if you did that to strength could you kill anything in like one swing?)
6. Some more tips on enchanting, the most useful enchantments besides the damage increase for the sword is with out a doubt "Feather", by far the best weapons and Armor in the game is Diadetic but the shit weighs a ton, and the Diadetic stuff "Holds" alot of enchanting energy so you can wear a full set of armor and have it weigh almost nothing if you constant feather everything. ( and it lasts real long (without repair)not like the crappy shit in SS2(:ebil: ) also get alot of exquisite clothing and feather that stuff too, for even more weight savings, also its not a bad Idea to Enchant an item or two with Levitate and light or waterwalking/breathing spells.
7. Spellcasting in a word: Make your own, I have one called CON ED which does 100 shock damage and another called AIR JORDAN that lets me levitate for like 3 Mins. SO make your own and I don't see the point in combining them if you want to shock...shock if you want to posion ...Posion, don't try to do both at the same time.Mark and recall can be lifesavers and make "CUSTOM" long water walking/breathing and light spells, also a super feather can be good but like light, feather is better done with powerful potions as they stack.
8. Potions advise, make tons of all of them, in one word... they STACK, so you can drink like 10 feather potions and carry away the whole house. Or drink 10 health and fatigue restores and fight an army. Also they tend to be more much more powerful then spells for strengthing your character.
9. You are going to need a few "Home Bases" where you can drop off expensive (not needed) shit, I happen to use Balroma Mages Guild and an Apt. in Vivec that I approprated, just make sure that on one of the home bases you cast the Mark spell so you can get back there, then just throw everything on the floor it ain't going anywhere.
10. Do everything for yourself, why pay someone to repair your goods when for the same price you can buy some cheap hammers or tongs and whack away at it yourself, and improve your skills at the same time, (always keep a couple (at least) grandmaster hammers with you when you go to a Dwarf Ruin or Demonic Site, especially if you like to use glass equipment, its light and offers great protection but breaks fast.Same with speechcraft try to intimade or shmooze a (not important) NPC to improve your score, do this over and over and when it comes time to talk to important(Shop Owners) you can get some killer deals.
11. Buy alot of "Blank" grand soul gems, and get a load of Golden Saint Scrolls or learn the spell, it turns those cheap empty gems into 80000 gold monsters and is really more handy then to try and "capture" them in the wild, Also make sure to kill Em quick before they can dispel the Soul Capture spell.
More hints to Come...

Oh man, this I gotta see... I'm not an expert on Morrowind, but I hope that this guide is at least as good as the one kingofthenet made for SS2 :cheeky:

Here's some more hints:
Make your character really tiny, you'll be almost impossible to hit!
*OR*
Make your character really big, use the added reach to it's full advantage!
kingofthenet on 28/2/2006 at 23:18
A Few more hints:
12. Don't wear any Inderoil gear, the guards in Vivec will try to kill you for the entire rest of the game, and at lower levels the guards can be tough and it makes doing temple missions hard,( as you need to keep killing the guards) you will get kicked out as a member.
13.People in Morrowind can't seem to operate a door handle(monsters either), so if you want to steal just open the door go in a another room, people will tend to "shadow" you to see if you steal, then run into the room and close the door and Steal, Steal, and steal some more.
14.Buy a bunch of cheap lockpicks, and use them in "secure" areas to improve your skill, but this not a good idea if you need to open a door quick, in that case custom manufacter a spell, with a hundred % chance of opening, I call mine "Open Legs Jeannette"...don't ask
15. About custom manufacturing spells, keep an eye on the % chance of casting success if it gets below 50% and your skills are at a high level its getting pretty iffy, now 10% chance at the beginning of the game is fine, you will get better at casting it after your skills improve.
16.Before you kill people who don't attack you,(getting caught stealing, doesn't count) be sure to save as you might be making the game "impossible" by destroying story important people. Also while it might be fun to kill "innocent"(after all is anyone REALLY innocent) people be careful as the guards sometimes seem to "Sense" this and attack you even when you do the deed in private(maybe a bug)
17. About "Exploiting" the game engine, I see no problem as long as you don't actually cheat, (Who doesn't save when they are about to do something risky) after all in real life you "usually" don't get a second chance. Now some people like to play "Marine Core" and take thier licks, well I guess thats why we have S/M clubs.I know its a little cheesey when a ghost gets "caught" on a door and can't move, but hell take what you can get. All that being said, I don't like playing "Little Ball" and messing with the Shop Exploit and selling them one thing at a time, it's smart strategy but seems a little "small"
18. The single best location to hit is the Dern? Farm, this guy is like a "Tony Montana" drug lord and he has a ton of good shit, just don't go there until level 10, and leave no witnesses alive.
19. The game has a weird habit of saving before rest, so if monsters awake you and you die, you need to reload and then sleep again.
20. When you get to Mohern Hold, you got to get a "Pack Rat" just for the novelity factor alone, just don't expect him to follow you around everywhere the world is to full of "problem" areas, like water and sharp cliffs that will stop him cold.
21. One thing about potions is that they take time to work, so if you are getting hammered by a powerful enemy, it might be a good idea to drink 3-4 of them at once just to be safe

:laff: oh god, keep it coming please, this is hilarious.
You can just tell he knows the game really well. Come to think of it, it would be more than possible to reach level 70 without leaving seyda neen...
RyushiBlade on 1/3/2006 at 04:24
Trust me: I more or less stole and sold everything in Seyda Neen, including cups and forks. You don't get a lot of money at all. I remember my first time playing, I thought 800gp was a lot of gold.
Arrgh, false impressions!

Thanks for the tips, I've had Morrowind installed for about a year, but the size of the thing terrifies me, and it has sat there, unplayed. Maybe now (soon) I'll have the stones to commit to the MSPRPG (massively single player RPG) that is Morrowind.
Right after I finish playing through Deus Ex again.
And Anachronox again.
And maybe Arcanum, I never finished that.
I never really got started with Fallout 2, either, and they say that's the best one.
I don't want to get hooked on something again, a month ago I played through Star Control 2 and the damn thing ruined me for two straight weeks.

My Tip.
1. ((only do this if your into two handed longswords)) Tired of spending money on weapons? well here is the best way to get the best weapon at the begging of the game. When you start of try to get some money about 1k will do just fine, now buy a weapon hopefully a longsword and some armor atleast a chest peice and go to Suran then Molag mar then head to mount assarnibibi. If you dont know where that is its Dirrectly northeast of Molag Mar, dont worry it will tellyou when you get there then simply look for the Shrine of assarnibibi ((will look like those ones you see in the temple to cure blight or what not)) Now head about 10-20 feet northeast and look for a Kwama mine ((should be to your right if you go northeast on a hill there will be a Kwama worker outside)) now head in beware that the Kwama workers will attack but they are pretty easy to kill so dont worry then head to the queen dont worry no warriors, and look for a wall you should be able to jump over and head there and get on over it ((there will be a rock you can jump on to get over the wall same for the other way)) and look and behold there is a dead body on the ground while loot it and look whats on it a Daedric Dai-Katana.
I do hope you try it out and furthermore there are only two Daedric Dai-Katanas in the game.
kingofthenet on 5/3/2006 at 13:32
I don't know about thier only being 2 Daedric Dai-Katana's in the game, I find alot of them on Daedric lords, when I rob the offerings in the shrines, also I think sometimes Golden Saints carry them
