Prey 2 reprise your role as Tommy, the native warrior who saved Earth from alien invasion in Prey. This time, abandoned and framed for
the disappearance of his family and girlfriend, Tommy escapes an Earth that no longer wants him for a future that cannot survive without him. Building on the mind-bending portal and gravity-defying gameplay of the original with several innovative new twists, Prey 2 promises to once again take players into a compelling science-fiction world with breathtaking visuals and adrenaline-pumping action gameplay.
Prey 2 is currently being developed in cooperation with Human Head studios and slated for Xbox 360 and PC platforms.(

Scott also spoke in some detail about Prey 2, giving some previous unknown detail about that title.
IGN: Prey is obviously the most well-known franchise of the bunch. Since the original's release, we've also played a little game called Portal. Has said title's use of portals influenced how the technology is being used in Prey 2?
Miller: Absolutely! While Prey pioneered the portal concept, Valve's Portal took it to an all-new level. It really shows what you can do when you focus on a single core cool gameplay concept.
So, while Portal impressed the heck out of us, it has also inspired us to return the favor to Valve and hopefully leap frog them as they did us. We believe we have new ideas for portals that will keep the portal race interesting. In the original Prey, the lead character, Tommy, was too reluctant, and didn't realize his hero status until late in the game.
So, in the new game we're making him a hardened, take-charge character who's learned fast from his previous experience, and ready to accept his status as a galactic savior. We're definitely beefing up the combat—expect more enemies onscreen simultaneously versus 3-4 in the original—as well as the spirit powers. And while the original was too much of a corridor shooter, Prey 2 will have much more variety and wide-open areas: think CoD4 to get a good idea of what we're shooting for in terms of open-world look and feel.(

I wonder if they're still using the Doom 3 engine. And I hope the story isn't as buggered as the last time. Apart from the set pieces and vignettes like the ghost children, the last 3/4 of the game was a poor excuse for narrative that sort of linked the levels together.
Also, now that they're planning to do more stuff with portals and add more combat, I hope we finally get some freakin' portal combat. It's an obvious combination, but we've gotten precious little of it. (Flinging enemies into a portal that's a straight drop to a pool of lava, throwing sticky grenades through a portal, et al.)
Maybe even more inventive stuff like, oh, opening a portal to a vacuum (space! whoosh!), or flooding level areas by opening a portal to a pool of water.

I know you were making teh funnies, but I imagine they will. They'll have to balance it though, probably have it set to charge slowly, or (and this is a bad idea) limit the types of spots it can be used on).
I can't wait, I still hold out hope for the original idea of the game to come to fruition, though I still doubt it. Guess I'm getting optimistic in my old age.

I had a dream last night. It was about a deathmatch with just two weapons: portal gun and gravity gun.
Boy was it great. Then again, it was just a dream.

It's an inevitable evolution and failure for it to appear would be a folly of unspeakable proportions.

I had a similar dream. Only there were no guns. Just steel toed boots. And it wasn't deathmatch. It was Abraham Lincoln in a 1982 Z28 mowing down zombies.
huh i guess it wasn't that similar after all

After some additional consideration I came to conclusion a third gun would be needed - the tamed barnacle from Opposing Force (with psysics improved, so that its tongue works like a pendulum, instead of just pulling you toward a surface).

Didn't anyone stick around after the ending credits in Prey?
Actually now that I think about it, that made me think of Turok of all things, which makes the most sense really. Damn there better be dinosaurs in Prey 2.
