My only problem with Prey was that there was no penalty for death, just a brief rubbish minigame. It allowed them to get really lazy with the balance of some of the monsters so the last half of the game was just a dull grind. The setting and the ideas were top notch, although a lot of them felt a bit "tech demo" and were underused. Definitely be interested in a sequel that solved the problems with the first game.

I agree, the first 1/2 of the game was much better than the last 1/2.

Ok, I know all the Prey-fans are looking forward to this so I'm sorry for raining on your parade. I sincerely apologize, to all 5 of you.
Don't worry bro, there's always 2 or 3 generic modern combat shooters for Xbox on the way to satisfy your needs.

I liked Prey, with flaws and all, can't wait for 2.
:)
Wish Steam would re-release it...

Gimme a fucking break, people. Prey was wasted potential - the number of times HH made actual, creative use of their portal engine could be counted on one hand. The only memorable bits apart from that were the school bus and the planetoids. Elsewhere, it devolved into straight-up run and gun shooting with the whole 'alien' arsenal ending up as just imaginative reskins of conventional weaponry, and the story... oh fuck, the story. 'Camp' doesn't even begin to describe it, especially the whole 'girlfriend' arc.

This game did well enough to warrant a sequel?

The only modern combat game in my collection is Modern Warfare 2, I'm not really into that style of FPS. The kind of FPS's I
am into are the ones that offer up some fun gameplay and do something original. The kind that Prey, at least on paper, is. And even
I didn't like it enough to muster up anything resembling enthusiasm for the sequel. If this was a new football game or a new RTS I wouldn't be going "why is this being made?" because I don't play that stuff and obviously I would be out of my element. But this shit? Prey? This is my kinda game. So I feel confident that I know what I'm talking about when I say that it wasn't that good.
I can't help but feel like that money could be better spent. For example I'd much rather have Human Head make a Rune sequel than this.

I liked the intro in the bar, you could play Blue Oyster Cult on the jukebox.
But then once the actual game started it got pretty dull pretty fast (the demo did, anyway).

And thank fucking god there are still developers in this world who realize gimmicks are to be used sparingly instead of trying to force them as main feature of the game. Like how the other game with portals did.
