Prey..... worth 5 bucks?

Should I get this game? I loved Doom 3 and Duke Nukem 3D. As is SOP for me though (before purchasing any modern game), I take a look at the lowest scoring reviews to see if it contains any invasive software. There is an official Linux client for the game though, and thankfully nobody has ported the invasive stuff to Linux. That is where I would play the game, so it looks like that sort of shit won't affect me here.

Is there an active multiplayer community?

worth it...yes, I guess so. As a game I liked it, the grav shifts are pretty nice and the game is over quick/they unlimited lives are odd though. Linux version is working and I installed it 1-2 years back but there never has been a good online comm for prey mp. . I guess it's dead now but don't take my word for it.

The game has a great start, and had the potential to be all sorts of enjoyably crazy (gravitational shenanigans, portal trickery, walking through squishy ducts punctuated by sphincter portals? Check. A vagina door? Oh well now, this could get awesome) but peters out into luminous alien fizz jizzle by the end.

Worth 5 bucks? Maybe, in short bursts.

I regret buying Prey. The demo is really worth playing, but the game goes downhill after that.

I absolutely love that game, but I can fully understand why it wouldn't be the taste of someone else, there's some gorgeous mindfucks in there.

I really am quite surprised this game doesn't have a larger following. It was in development for 10+ years, and I remember reading about it having "awesome 16-bit textures!" lol.

Another game I am interested in is Quake 4. I heard it's multiplayer isn't popular either though.

Quake 4 is a great game. Feels like a mix of the best parts of Doom 3 and Call of Duty. Definitely worth your time if you like a crazy-awesome (if linear) shooter.

For $5 the game is worth getting for the school bus encounter alone. Chilling stuff.

FUCK the stupid vehicle sections though. Flying around in that alien pod was awful. It was like a Special Olympics version of Descent.

Yep, those got boring fast.

The reshaping hallways though, those are visually fantastic.
