Nah, that's likely just due to the low res and poorly compressed nature of the IGN flash video.
I have to say that this game is looking really good. Too bad that PC version has been confirmed to be rooted by Ubi's current DRM scheme. It would've looked absolutely gorgeous on PCs, if AC1 and PoP 2008 are any indication (same engine).
I have a sealed copy of AC2: Black Edition for PC, but have yet to play it since I'm in the middle of playing a handful of Bioware RPGs, in-between MP sessions of Bad Company 2. I dread to think how it'll play on my rubbish net connection with traffic shaping on during 8am-2am. It will likely be last Ubi game that I buy on PC until this DRM scheme goes away.

Ha, they basically even apologized for the 2008 game.

the ubi-drm isn't affected by net traffic. in about 8 hours it processed about 24kb of data for whatever. you can have multiple torrents running no problem. win doesn't cut off connections that were already established so the only occasion where the DRM did not work for me was ubi's fault.

Although the latest preview looks great, I do wish they have opted for a more stylized look--screenshots and video so far appear to lean towards realistic rendering. The lighting especially is a bit flat for such a fantastic setting. Sands of Time may have been a bit too shiny and blurry, but I miss that soft, lush aesthetic.

Why anyone would be waiting for anything relating to the Sands of Time prince after Warrior Within is beyond me. I loved SoT, but Ubi had their shot at a sequel and they fucked it up royally. I'd much prefer a sequel to the 2008 Prince of Persia game then a movie tie-in playing off of nostalgia. Despite having some problems with it (mainly conversation implementation), I had a blast playing through that game, and it seems crazy that they wouldn't make a sequel when the game has 2 cliffhanger endings. Hopefully this new game is just a one off and they'll leave the SoT prince to rot after it's done.

Well, I wouldn't say they're appealing to nostalgia. The original SoT isn't quite oldschool enough in either age or gameplay for a retro relapse just yet. What they're doing here is simply giving us what we've all been wanting for so long. An actual, honest to god, Sands of Time 2.
Thing is, it isn't necessarily the story and characters from SoT I'm most interested in (as much as I liked them back in the day). I wouldn't mind if it were a sequel to the new cel-shaded PoP. I just want more of the crazy, challenging gameplay SoT had as opposed to the plays-itself BS they gave us with the new PoP. But whichever sequel it lands in, I'm just happy they're going back to what made the first game so fun.
Edit: And if Ubisoft really wants to bring back the old magic, they should track down Stuart Chatwood and get him go overboard with another cheesy, overdone, and totally awesome soundtrack.

The Two Thrones was terrific. All sins of Angst Within were redeemed.
