Oh you assholes, Haplo was serious. I apologise for not being able to tell that you were joking when you posted in a non-joking manner that appears to ridicule his sensitivities with no smileys as hints yeah right.
Sensitivities exist to be ridiculed. Especially when they're sensitivities about the historical accuracy of the throwaway backround in an 80's videogame.

Movies of games are never good.
I still like the Resident Evil movie as an entertaining way to spend 90 minutes. I'm aware this doesn't make it more gooderer than it was before

Yeah, that's true enough Ulu. I can't help feel that it's partly down to Milla being yum though.

Yeah, it does seem a little trite. A bit of insignificant nitpicking really. However, one cannot shake the feeling that it's part of an endemic failure of the West to get anyone else.

It's not endemic just to the West by far. Look at what Japan does with western culture.

What do they do?

Manga isn't grounded in reality at all though. It's just bonkers. Alot of stuff that they get wrong in the Far East is due to the language barrier too, as made clear by you getting that stuff from Engrish.com.
Total ignorance is not the issue - you can't chide someone for not knowing anything about something. You can for knowing enough to know better. If people make mistakes about Far Eastern stuff (as opposed to not wanting to see chinks or nips in films and so remaking every frekking successful Chinese/Japaense/Thai film into a US versions that miss the point!!! ) I'd be more forgiving.
But not the Middle East. Europeans have interacted with the Middle East for too long to not get simple stuff. It's like the stupid misconception that Muslims all wear turbans that some of the Brits still have. Get out from under your rocks.

The Japanese are some of the most racist people on earth. I can speak of this from experience.
