Well, the art style is... unexpected.

Am I the only one who's rather "meh" on that character design?

IGN has a preview up (
http://pc.ign.com/articles/876/876485p1.html) here, that makes it sound pretty good, but I'm agreed with Hidden on the character design. The art style overall is pretty cool, it's just the character design that doesn't work for me.

I think it's alright. I kinda like the foreign look, even though they're leaning a little too heavily towards the superbadass character design side of things.
Ultimately, anything would be better than the tongue pierced numetal antihero fuckchild of Todd McFarlane aping Rob Zombie Prince we got in Warrior Within. Anything.

I'm sorry but this is actually worse than WW. I really loved the style when seen first time on concept art. but those screenshots ..... bad, bad, bad. what's with this stupid hairdo ? I like the "street fighter" style (only game I can think of using that pop-cartoon style) but the actual character looks that bad, I don't know if I will ever warm up to it.......still nice that Ubi is aiming for something different.
i want a sindbad nice-looking dreamy hopeful 1000 and 1 night prince, not some
grundgy goth punk without proper nail clippers.

It's called manga-style.

The new art style reminds me of Okami. Actually, it reminds me A LOT of Okami, including the plot.
And I don't mind that, since Okami is effing brilliant.
Also, the Arabian Nights-style Prince would've been great, but well... I wouldn't mind the new character design as long as, y'know, the story's as human as Sands of Time was.
To me, the key differentiating factor between SoT and WW/Two Thrones wasn't the art style, it was that SoT had a soul, and the remaining two did not.

exactly, reading about the gameplayelements (corruption, only 1v1 fights) gives me hopes but that junky gaze with the little claw extentions just scream cynical bad boy and not adventurous prince.

Am I being paranoid for thinking that they´re avoiding a turban wearing prince because of the entire western/middle east conflict ? Ok, Pop Sands of Time managed to be a success in 2003 despite the entire 09/11 climate...
But a manga prince and a western looking princess seems either avoidance, streamlining or both.
