I adore the new look, I am a total fag for cell-shading

(
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/38687.html) Caught this just a few minutes ago. I'm impressed...for the most part. I love me some cel shaded action, and what's on display here is some of the best I've seen. The art style is truly fantastic. Everything else, the music (well...maybe), the gameplay, look up to par with the aforementioned graphical goodness. All except for one thing...
...the voice acting.
It's godawful.

The acting itself isn't too bad. A bit rushed in places but not terrible.
But whoever designed those cutscenes just sort of slapped the sound files in there with no regard to the rhythm of human speech.

No, the acting isn't bad, just innapropriately American.
There's a few ideas stolen from Okami in there, which is interesting; namely the "blood" of the bad guy looking like hand-drawn swirls when it hits the ground and the floral burst at the end.

Yes, well, more things could afford to rip off Okami now and then.

And, more likely than not,
Okami 'stole' those ideas from Murakami's films, for instance
Princess Mononoke. I'm not too worried about the lack of originality here. As long as they don't swipe more overused, clichéd things from other games...

I guess if I can suspend disbelief enough to believe that they're speaking English instead of Persian, then I can suspend it enough to believe that they'd do so without an accent.

Most definitely.
I wasn't highlighting that as a criticism, more that it's nice to see that Okami's had an influence on game designers.
Such a shame that even with the re-release on the Wii, the game's
still not selling well :(
The American accents thing just annoys me given the quality and style of the voice acting in the previous games. Stinks to me of over-marketing.
