Hello folks
I'm wondering if any of you old timers are aware of magazine reviews of Thief lying around in the attic/garage/shed, insulating the local homeless etc. Basically I'm looking for reviews, articles, interviews, columns that mention the game, year end awards, retrospectives. Anywhere Thief is found. And hopefully get it scanned or transcripted and forwarded to me with publication info if they're not floating around on the net already. Failing that; info on scores, general precis, awards, author etc
Yeah its a lot to ask, but the asking doesn't hurt and the state library doesn't keep back issues of Edge magazine for me to look at. So if you have a mouldy old stack of Edge, or a PC Gamer or Pc Powerplay et al and can be bothered poking around, please do.
(this might be something worth gathering up on TTLG generally, providing there's no hideous legal ramifications)

What about your German? :sly:
(

Shit Muz, we thought you were dead..

Heya zach. Nah, not dead. Just missing presumed 'netless.
Those German scans are just the sort of thing I'm after (although in English ;) and sadly there doesn't appear to be a Thief 1 review there). Which reminds me; I also wanna find out about the international releases of the game. I know there was German and possibly French (and recently Polish I see. Any others? When were they released, were they fully re-voiced etc?

The German and French editions were full translations - briefings, sound files, books, the works. I think the Italian version was too. The Polish version, if I'm not mistaken, is everything bar soundfiles. I think the work on that was actually done, in part, by a forum member, bukary.

I confirm there are french versions of Thief I and Thief II, fully revoiced. what's funny with the voices, it's they used voice actors who worked on french versions of old animes like "fist of the north star" and all... the french guards are excellent :laff:
I think each french versions were released a few months after the original US versions, to allow translations. But when exactly I can't tell. Thief gold was never translated in french, and never distributed in France.

Well, the first two pictures at thief-darkproject.de are from a preview to Thief 1 (well, we Germans do write half of our headlines and things in English, sadly, you should have been able to read it :sly: ). Both Thief I+II were done perfectly in German, but not TDS, one of the main aspects why I have a problem with that game.

It's all good. The Thief 2 stuff will probably come in handy at some point.
Has anyone got any hard dates or links regarding those non-english releases?
cheers

I still have reviews of Thief I and Thief II, from old issues of PC Zone Benelux (in Dutch :erg:).
I could scan them, but the forum rules would not allow me to post it.

Hmm, I don't see how the "don't post copyrighted material" rule can work here, as the magazines in which we found the reviews must be quite old (published 6 years ago or so) and therefore cannot be found/bought anymore in libraries.
As long as you mention the sources of the magazine (name/date of publication/pages/etc...) it should be okay.
Furthermore, 2 or 3 pages out of 60, doesn't hurt anyone, does it ? :cheeky:
