The newer fan missions that are written for NewDark do not function on my computer. I have installed NewDark, but it seems that this doesn't help.
I have installed TafferPatcher_TMA_211_beta - this should include NewDark. Or am I wrong here?
With the newer fan-missions always the same happens: I can start the mission, but there is nothing to see, all is black. When I pull my sword, I see the sword, however when I move it it is like the characters the sword consists of stay on their Position and so I see fragments of the sword (hard to describe) on the screen. (It's an effect that is sometimes found with a door in Thief 1, when a Thief-Gold-Mission is played without the Thief-Gold-Patch when the door is of a type that is only present in Thief Gold and not in Thief 1 - in that case sometimes the Portion of the Screen where the door should be makes analog fragments.)
What could be the Problem?
The TafferPatcher file is called "TafferPatcher_TMA_212_beta.exe and it has a size of 212.148 KB. I have downloaded it from (
http://www.ttlg.com) - that should be the correct version.
I use Thief 2 from the following package:
THIEF - THE COMPLETE COLLECTION: Thief Gold, Thief II (The Metal Age), Thief III (Deadly Shadows)
This Set is from Mastertronic, and all three games (the English Versions) are on one DVD:
(
http://www.mastertronic.com)
Could this be the Problem?
On my older exemplare of Thief II (the German Version) the play-CD is broken, so I use now this package.
What could be the problem and how can I solve it?
When I install the TafferPatcher, all missions look much darker. However the NewDark-missions do not function, they don't show any differences whether the TafferPatcher is installed or not.

Is your runtime environment up to date as suggested in the NewDark v1.21 release/modder notes?
I would check this first.
I don't think Mastertronic has anything to do with it, as I use this also.

T2 TafferPatcher v2.0.1.1 is the correct version to use for NewDark v1.21

Now I've downloaded this T2 demo.
It is the same as the original demo, but the textures are different. All is functioning well in this demo. Also the movies.

if that's the case, it's very safe to assume that something went wrong during the installation, and you resource files are incomplete, misplaced or broken. let's double check - after applying TafferPAtcher, the original game works fine, but the FMs don't, right? what method are you using to install nad play the FMs? have you tried to make a new clean install using the latest version of TafferPatcher?

When I install the TafferPatcher, the original missions and the fan-missions that do not need New Dark are functioning and they are showing new textures. However the objects (doors for example) do not enlight, so I do not see that they're frobable although the doors and objects function the normal way. (This is NOT the case in the demo. There the enlighting of the frobable things is correct.)

First I have installed Thief 2 in another Directory so that I don't lose data (I have some installations of Thief 2), then I ran the program TafferPatcher_TMA_212_beta.exe and choosed the Directory where I have installed Thief 2.
For playing Fan Missions I use DarkLoader v4.3.

Sounds like you have a conflict in directories. You might consider keeping your original Thief 2 install, and Renaming your backup installations to say: T2,Thief2 Backup, ect. Your thief 2 install is trying to find resources in your other directories. Anything installed to Thief 2 uses the Install.cfg.
A good example of what I am saying is your unfrobbable doors ect. The engine is attempting to find gen.osm, which you need to function in game mode.
Get your directories situated first before you continue, as I suggested.
Depending on how old your system is, you will have to upgrade your run time environments that NewDark needs to function. Read the release notes found in the NewDark zip Once you get all of this ironed out, I would advise using Fm-Selector that came with NewDark. If you have Darkloader crashes, you will end up trying to clean up fm-resource messes in your directory.

The doors are not unfrobbable (I can open them), but they do not enlight, so I don't see if they are frobable or not. The same with objects: When there is a paper lying on a desk, it doesn't enlight, but when I use it, I see the text as normal. The same with levers, and so on. This makes it hard to play.
What do you mean with a conflict in directories?
Actually, I have this Directory on my Computer:
C:\Spiele\Thief-Serie\
Inside, there are the following Directorys, each containing an install of Thief 2:
Dark Project 2 - Das Metallzeitalter\
Thief 2 mit Tafferpatcher 2.0.7\
Thief 2 mit Tafferpatcher 2.1.1\
Other directories in C:\Spiele\Thief-Serie\ contain Thief Gold, Demos for Thief 2 and for Thief 3 and DarkLoader 4.3.
In the DarkLoader I change the Thief-2-directory when I want to use another Installation. And I normally start Thief 2 only via DarkLoader.
Do you believe, these installations could interfere with each other? (I don't believe this.)
I don't have Garretloader, so I always use DarkLoader.

Well, my Laptop is about three years old. It is a HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC with 8 GB (7,48 GB available) with Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1.
NB: It drives me mad that my text is always changed due the German rules of Capitalisation automatically while I'm writing it so that I have to rechange it to the correct form.

I would just;
-make a new, clean install of T2
-patch it up with the latest TafferPatcher (enable FMselect shortcuts)
-run the FMselect shortcut to create the FMs folder
-extract the FM there, and play it via FMselect
after patching up with TafferPatcher, verify whether the orig game is working properly.

I will try this tomorrow in the evening. It's late here, and tomorrow I have to work.
So I will uninstall the one Installation of Thief 2 and give it a new try tomorrow.
