Hey guys,
I have T3 installed on my new PC I just built. AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200 with ATI X1800 XT graphics card. I launch Thief 3, and it loads up and begins playing the intro movie. I let it play through, and I can see the main menu load but right after it begins playing the intro movie again. I hit ESC to bypass the movie, but it does the same thing and repeats again. Just wondering if anyone has seen or heard of this problem before, and what the solution to this problem is. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I wanna play this game on the new PC to see how it looks with the new graphics card. Thanks.

tony lukes the tricks of intro movies doesn't work if it's a dual processor you have
here is a copy from my post on the other thread with this problem :
"hello every one i've got the same problem here with a 3800 X2
it's undoubtedly a problem with dual core processing
the patch from microsoft witch resolve some problem with game as flatout or gta sa is not working for this one
you need to set affinity of t3.exe and t3main.exe on only one core
the problem for me was that when i define it on the task manager, i cant come back to thief 3 :erg: (graphic hangup)
so i tried another thing : i go to thief 3 shortcut property on my desk and define "execute this program in compatibility mode for windows 98"
and it works!
windows 98 compatibility mode set the program on the core 0 only so problem is gone! :thumb:
thief 3 run likes a charm now and i can play again
hope it wil resolve your problem as well ;) (sorry for my poor english;) )"

Interesting, I'll try that and see if it works. I've already disabled the intro movies so that works as far as them not playing but it didn't fix the problem. I'll try the 98 compatability mode. Thanks!

I to had this continuous movie loop problem on my Athlon 64 X2 4400+. Changing compatability to 98/ME worked like a treat.
There is also a program out there (unfortunatly cann't remember name) that sets cpu affinity's for you.
Thanks

Thanks frenegond, this problem is definitely solved by setting affinity in task manager.
I struggled with this for ever (see (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102256)).
Once more for luck - it's nothing to do with disabling intro movies! :p If you have a dual core processor (and more and more people are upgrading to this cpu) then you need to set affinity to turn off one of the cpus to make t3.exe work.
My guess is that this problem will become more common as time passes, and really needs an official patch. Maybe Microsoft can do it if Eidos can't be bothered.
