Hi
right now im at the mage towers in thief gold
and for some reason I cant progress further
I knocked out 2 guys in the air tower
in the walkthrough it says that theres supposed to be an
elevator but I dont see anything except for a square hole
can someone help
maybe theres a button to call the elevator

That's a known bug that seems to show up randomly. Try restarting from an earlier save or restarting the mission and hopefully it will appear in the proper place for you.

What Nightwalker said. The "elevators" are actually floating rocks, so there's no call buttons.

That's one reason why you should never rely on just Quicksave or use only one save slot. Another one is that saves can become corrupted occasionally and if you don't have another one to fall back on, you have to restart. Then there's the "Oops! I shouldn't have saved right then because I just slipped off the edge of a building" kind of mistake. :cheeky:

I had this funny thing happend in half-life
I only used one save slot and once I saved at a place where I got stuck and the only way out was down into a pit of sorts (I was more than halfway through the game)
I had to start the WHOLE game over again
thank god half life 2 fixes this problem by letting you start from the start of the chapter you were last in
