I got through the mission, but here are the problems I had:

Spoiler:

1. Couldn't walk up the stairs in the kitchen. Had to run, otherwise Garrett gets stuck.
2. Attic key is impossible to find if you don't blackjack all of the guards. Somebody said he shows up after you rob the safe in the Library, but I had no idea and it took me awhile to find that key.
3. Originally, I couldn't find the attic key, so I blasted open the doors to the main bedrooms. This causes lots of sequence problems. The two servants just stand there, oblivious, and Garrett's comment "What the... I know I didn't do this." happens when you walk into the bathroom. I knew something was amuck, so I re-loaded from an older save.
4. I never found a key to the servants area. I had to blow the door to go in and use Bradey's room key, which is within the servant's area. I found three keys inside the area, but that didn't do me any good. I would have expected the woman in the kitchen to have it, but couldn't find it. Is there a key, or alternate way in? It's just not thief-like to blow doors.
5. On the south side of the mansion, there are two windows on each side of a bridge that look down into the war museum. I jumped up on one of these windows and went right through the railing and landed on the muesum floor. Sustaining injury, and of course, having no means of escape without the key.

Nightbird, thankyou very much for the spoiler Unfortunately it came a little too late to do me any good L. After my last post I went back to this level and carried on blindly to the where abouts of the map+loot. And I have to admit I got a little bored (see screenshot lol)trying to find them. But I wasn't going to let this wonderful mission beat me. And as soon as I did find them, everything quickly fell into place and I completed the mission in next to no time with max loot objective and without taking any damage! Anyway thanks all, and a special thanks goes to everyone involved in making this quality mission. When the patch comes out I'll be playing this one again that's for sure.

Ok all, this mission is VERY EASY to complete if you pay attention. For those people like myself, who couldn't get the 1st mission/intro to work. It basically explains the story and the vague whereabouts of the loot and map! This mission hinges on this! As soon as you find the map+loot which is here
Spoiler:
Lookout for 3 statues in an outside area, and look behind them!

then it all starts to happen, you can then find the key to the Library then to the attic etc etc, This mission is scripted so certain things happen when you complete other things! DON'T blow any doors open as this can stop you from finishing this mission, and you'll have to start again. Plus doing this, in my opinion will spoil the mission anyway. After all Garrett's a thief, not a demolition expert
hope this helps you out.

FYI folks, our dear Saturnine has put together a patch that addresses the major issues that people have been experiencing. Garrett MIA on the bridge, attic location noted on the map and others... But you taffers won't be blowing up any more doors and screwing up the order of things for yourselves anymore, this is a good thing, trust me.
The patch file, and the full patched mission are available here http://thief1.math.uh.edu/thief/missions/
Go get it NOW!!

I had a problem with this mission in that the attic key wouldn't open the damned attic. Had to blow the thing.
Spoiler:

Spoiler:
When I enteredthe baby's room I did so by beating the door with a sword. Didn't find the key till later.

I found that while a stunning mission from the viewpoint of the cutscenes (WOW!) and some of the new features that I have not seen used before, there are a lot of bugs to work out of this mission.

Spoiler:
I never could find the sapphire, had to cheat to end that mission. I found the way to raise the cage but got no further than that.

The scripting that was used in this game was too easily gotten around, and therefore broken. I did patch this game and start over, and still the scripting held me up. It's too bad, this is one of the most technically stunning fan mods I've ever seen. Saturnine, if you want help playtesting another patch for this mission, please let me know and I'll be happy to help. Besides, I want you to
Spoiler:
show us all how Garret gets out of his ending "sticky situation."

I can't even get the thing to work at all! When I hit "play" in darkloader, I get an error message and T2 doesn't even start! I tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling, with the same results.
Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a potential solution to it????

If you don't try to move (ie jump walk run etc.) during the Act1 cam sequence (other than looking around you) It should run fine. Happened to me once, after escape: main menu: restart it worked fine for me without moving.
Also Spoiler answer needed for this question:

Spoiler:
I have done everything up to entering Saturnine's room and going into his attic crawlspace, but I cant find a lever, button or anything to do that will open the crypt, what am I missing??

'tronic, try redownloading the zip file again (sucks I know) but it may be corrupted.
[ November 12, 2001: Message edited by: DarkRaven ]
redownloading it, sucks that is, the FM itself is wonderful!!

HaHa that is funny Rich
Great shot!
I had guards stashed everywhere too, but I think probably everyone
did. This would be a real hard one to ghost.
I just didn't seem to have time to get all my guards together for
a little party the way you did. I was waaaaaaay to busy trying to find keys....... They are going to have one heck of a
hangover in the morning.
