Hello all...
For a couple of years now, my wife has been waxing nostalgic about Thief and Thief 2. Since I'm a dyed in the wool Macintosh guy, I never had a chance to experience the series, but I finally decided to break down and give her the Christmas present of a lifetime: A running PC and Monitor with the first two Thiefs (or possibly "Thieves"?) on CD.
The original Thief installed and worked just dandy . . . but Thief 2 is a lot more glitchy. I've got an older PC running Windows 2000 and it appears to be a pretty good machine (they used to play Half Life and Unreal Tournament on it at the office) but it looks like it's choking on Thief 2.
Specifically, there are visual display problems that no amount of adjusting game, resolution, or system settings can seem to resolve.
Here's what's happening: When playing, various spots on the screen flash brighter than others, as though they were redrawing incorrectly. Not only is this distracting, but it dramatically inhibits gameplay, in that the brighter redraw areas blank out important elements like guards, swag, etc.
Any ideas? I tried searching for some help, but couldn't find any.
If any kind soul out there could help me get a Thief fan back up and running again, it would be much appreciated. You'd be helping someone get their best Christmas ever . . . at last.
Thanks...

Run DXDIAG and see what pops up. Run all the Video and sound tests.
If you have an onboard Video chip, that could be the problem. T2 always ran poorly with such.
I ran it with a Rage 128 card when it first came out with no problems, but every computer I ever tried to run it on (prior to the last year or so) had problems if it was a onboard chip.
Also, as I recall there were problems with the INTEL chips (not the CPU) the MOBO mounted chips.
