blitzkrieg on 23/1/2006 at 16:27
I am having trouble getting this to run. I have searched all the forums and read the FAQ at (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75031) on running this in XP. The game launches and I can see the opening movie. After that I have the famous "Black Screen" that I have read so much about with no error messages. I do have sound, but the games seems to be hung. I have to ALT-TAB out and then end the program with Taskmanager. I have tried the following:
Installed thief using setup.exe -lgntforce
Updated the game with the 1.33 patch
Downloaded the fix for the black screen Thief: The Dark Project v1.33 Direct3D Texture Error Fix.
Renamed the oriiginal thief.exe to thief.org
Renamed the thieffix.exe to thief.exe
Still have a black screen.
Here are my PC specs:
ASUS P3C-LS with P3 at 933MHZ
512MB RAM
Windows XP SP2
NVIDIA GeForce 3
Driver version 8.1.9.8
Is there anything else I can try?
Thanks.

Hey, there was a British band called Blitzkrieg, and you can find the eponymous song covered by Metallica. But I get you.

I don't have TDP myself so I can't say much, but have you tried running it under Win95/98 compatibility? I don't know if it'll accomplish anything, but you didn't mention it on your list, so I figured it was worth suggesting.

Sorry, blitz, you've tried everything I know of.

The nazis thought that they'd quickly win the war they started, hence they named it "Blitzkrieg" ("Blitz"=thunder, in the sense of quick). We all know how hellish and long that war was in the end.
Identifying oneself with the "Blitzkrieg" is an awful thing to do.
That is why it is tasteless.
BTW, it is also tasteless to make games of WW2
