Problems w/T2X crash - TTLG Forums

Have played the prologue an first mission however when trying to go into the second mission game tells me thief.exe has stopped working. Anyone know how to fix this?

we require more ~~minerals~~ information. your system specs, drivers used, Thief2 version, whether you used Tafferpatcher (and the new 1.19 patch), how did you install T2x, whether you are running it via the fmselect or via the original loader.

Not sure about some of this stuff but I have an AMD dual core 2.3, 3 gigs memory and gforce 6150SE for graphics. My GPU died recently and I know it's not very good, but have played a bunch of FM's recently and had no problems with it. I believe I have version 1.1 of thief and I use Darkloader version 4.3. Not even sure what tafferpatcher is or new 1.19 patch. I'm running TX2 directly from the installer although I did install it to the Gog version of T2.

Appreciate the help.

well then, lets get started;

-make a clean install of Thief2
-use the latest (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131106&p=2151733&viewfull=1#post2151733) Tafferpatcher
-on the "additional tasks" screen, place a checkmark to the create desktop icons for/built-in fan-mission selector, and let Tafferpatcher do it's magic
-run the game via the Thief-2 Fan-Mission Selector shortcut, allow the FMs folder creation (at this point, you should continue ingame to see whether it runs fine or not)
-install T2x, and move the t2x folder into the FMs folder
-run Thief-2 Fan-Mission Selector shortcut again, the select screen should now display T2x
-double click on t2x to run it (or use the play button).

if you chose to install the enhanced skies in the Tafferpatcher setup, you can enable them in T2x as well, just extract (https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B7quQTgSRc9KZ1pZX0RYNFQ3N00) this archive to the t2x folder.

Thanks. Just a couple of questions though. If I uninstall T2 will I lose all my current FM's in Darkloader..... and... should I keep Darkloader or will that not be needed anymore?

Thanks again. Worked like a charm! Was a bit nervous because I've had so many problems in the past.

darkloader is no longer necessary. using your old fms and saves should be possible, but some file moving will be necessary - basically, each fm needs to sit in it's own folder inside the FMs folder (just like T2x) with its saves included.
