On a side note, I wasn't aware we had so many PhDs in Psychology here on TTLG who can tell me exactly how my adult mind works when confronted with little kids. Also impressive they all did their thesis specifically on pedophiles and gone through hundreds of cases studies getting a thorough knowledge of their thinking as well!

Nah, Tocky - I understood what you said, and yeah, it was just venting. Though I shudder to think that I could easily become that person - it's one of the reasons I had to get away from the type of work I was doing. It was making me want to cut people's dicks off.
Also I have no idea what the fuck you said in either of your posts, Martin. :erg:

That's why I enjoy the Internet so much. Only the finest of scholars and the most becoming of ladies congregate here.

If you cannot understand what I said, imagine how I feel then when I don't know how or when did I read about that subject after all.

CCCToad, the difference between making an advancement and sexual harassment is understanding the meaning of the word "no". It's that simple.
That doesn't stop people from getting in serious trouble for "harassment" even when they desisted after hearing no.

revenge isn't the same as justice.
True. Justice would be for them to recieve exactly what they deal out, the pain, the lasting damage, but then some of them have and pass it on, which blows my mind. Revenge would only feel good for awhile and then you have to carry it the rest of your life too and lord knows what that would do to the psyche. Breaking somebodys face up a bit aint that bad on the conscience though.

But my empathy isn't just a naive luxury and your view isn't the "right" one because you've come in close contact with the subject. If you were a judge you would be called biased in this issue.
Yyyyyeaaaah. I will always be biased in favor of the weak and powerless, not even a dustmotes doubt about it, and kids? Aw man, kids are the greatest so my empathy with them over adults is always a given. I had the most wonderful childhood you can imagine and I want them all to have that magic to carry them through this tough and merciless life. I pretty much don't give a shit about "right" when it comes to that. What stops me going selective serial killer is the greater good for the ones I love. I like a world with laws but I've seen some pretty arbitrary shit happen on that field. Hell in this life or after for me is not a big deal compared to kids. I've had a good life already- mostly. I've had mine and want them to have thiers.
That's just an explanation of me and not a winning argument. I also don't give a shit about winning.

If someone I loved or if I was victim of a sexual crime, I am pretty sure I'd have the revenge reaction too. (After I got burgled twice in the same week I started investigating hand guns and getting all 'crime'n'punishmentish' in my outlook - especially the punishment bit.)
But I am glad there is a process (however flawed it may seem) where more objective and constructive remedy can be sought. I am glad we have rule of law and that the vigilante urge is discouraged. Mobs are piss poor at making rational judgements. Me too when I am wound up.

Happiness? Satisfaction? Profound sense of putting it behind you and ending that chapter in your life?

That's what I've been trying to say, but more clumsily, for two pages. Carry on, Nicker. :thumb:
