Wait, what? Dude, I have a long history of attacking PS:T as overrated but even with me you aren't going to win this one.
I don't care
how good a game's writing is when the gameplay itself is less fun than getting my teeth pulled out through my asshole by a gulag doctor in a Soviet backwater. I just simply do NOT have the time or the inclination anymore to push myself through a game as aggressively innaccessible as PS:T. The sooner you humphats realize that and stop giving me shit for NOT LIKING AN UNFUN GAME OH NO the sooner we can all move on with our lives. Jesus
Christ.

But it's so much fun watching you blow your top each time we do!

I fail to see how saying "god forbid I not play a game that isn't fun" qualifies as 'blowing my top.' Especially on TTLG.

That's pretty not fun :laff:

In the end, I decided to buy Broken Sword for my ds.
And a new electric guitar.
A thank you.
However I'm stil intregued by the popularity of the PS2 - so folks would rather have "a swathe of great games" as opposed to the "latest whiz-bang graphics that are ultimately crap games".
Hmm...maybe when PS3 is down to £100 i'll grab it.

Nah, most of us already have modern PC's and/or Xbox 360's and are content enough with those to bother shelling out for PS3's.
Also the games with the "latest whiz-bang graphics" on PC are pretty good games too. Anyone that writes off the likes of Crysis, Far Cry 2, the Unreal series, Id Software games, etc. as glorified tech demo's really ought to get a fucking clue. Those are all decent, well designed, full fledged titles that are all fun to play.
june gloom on 4/4/2009 at 09:02
While I do hate the intellectual dishonesty or otherwise outright ignorance of passing off pretty games as "tech demos" let's not get ahead of ourselves by declaring Crysis, Far Cry 2 (or the original for that matter) or any Unreal game after 2K4 as good games.

PS3 doesn't have critical PS2 hardware parts anymore, so PS2 has to be emulated via software only. Seeing that only fastest + overclocked PC CPUs (like C2D 4Ghz+ ) can emulate resource hungry PS2 games adequately, I doubt PS3 is able to achieve similar results. AFAIK, an ordinary C2D 3.2Ghz is more effective for usual applications than PS3's 3.2Ghz Cell CPU.
Theoretically and in advertisements. It's very inconvenient for programming, at least I read devs mentioned that.
So it's basicly a piece of shit, I know Valve wasn't particulary fond of the PS3 but it isn't that much behind the 360 imho, Killzone 2 looks pretty damn awesome, how does the PS3 do that considering it's so weak?
