Sega's action-adventure series, Yakuza (aka Rya Ga Gotoku) for PS2+3, fantastic.
Also Sega's recent House of the Dead: Overkill is pretty decent. Don't forget that they own both the Total War franchise and their developer Creative Assembly.

Back on the topic of the thread (sort of) - has anyone seen the screens and vids for this MAG thing? Looks interested if they can really pull off the command structure. Its like Planetside for PS3. Must get a big tv before this one comes out. Got several months to save up it seems.

dunno, looks like a tech-demo, 256 players for the sake of it

I have my doubts it'll ship w/that many. Or even 1/2.

Eurogamer recently (
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/mag-hands-on) had a go at a 128 player match, so it definitivelah works. don't diss de Sony, mang
Okay, more seriously: I like how they're splitting this shit up into squads. 256 players in one immense fracas would be insane. For instance, in Resistance 2, you have the option to join in 64-player deathmatches. It's unmitigated chaos, there's shit flying
everywhere and it's usually grenade launcher heaven for people sitting up on high.

Isn't 256 players the entire population of the PSN? ;)
Sulphur on 4/5/2009 at 20:31
Heh, you got me there, bro. :D But it ain't as bad as it seems, every time I go a-searchin' to get my ass handed to me on PSN, there's always a group of incredibly enthusiastic people who can't wait to do it.

Yeah, as you can see, I'm just funnin' ya', man. Anyway, I have to admit, if I had a PS3 I would be all OVER this. It looks great, so far.

The high number of players doesn't really affect the game that much, didn't know about the deathmatch will have to try that, but the huge teamgames become several teamgames that just happen to take place on the same map at the same time, you could as well be in a 8 vs 8 it's just a novelty.

Time to play (

The Times (
http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/media/article6531367.ece) report on Activision CEO Bobby Kotick's
disappointment with the PS3 as a money-making platform. Not in these exact words, but that's the gist. In fact, Bobby seems
so disappointed with Sony and their console that he's suggesting the possibility of Activision ceasing to support the console in the 2010/2011 timeframe, unless the situation improves. In particular, Kotick's stating directly that Sony have to cut the price on the PS3. We're with you on that one, Bob! Oh, and he also drops some hints about how specialized additional controllers, like the Wii skateboard, would be great for the PS3, but I'm guessing not many on TTLG give a shit about that.

I'm getting concerned about Sony; the PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don't make it easy for me to support the platform. It's expensive to develop for the console, and the Wii and the Xbox are just selling better. Games generate a better return on invested capital on the Xbox than on the PlayStation.

They have to cut the price, because if they don't, the attach rates [the number of games each console owner buys] are likely to slow. If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony.” Ask when and he says: “When we look at 2010 and 2011, we might want to consider if we support the console — and the PSP [portable] too.
