Yeah, the BBC had that a week or so ago. I do see their point though - you're always going to get some duff consoles in any manufacturing run and with the yellow light, as I understand it, being a nonspecific error indicator I'm not sure you can say that all yellow light cases = same problem = inherent defect.
I've also read some articles that suggest the soldering problem has only or mainly occurred with early 60Gb models.

Heh, didn't Mothra argue that at one point?
i never played any metroid game. Halo1 for pc could not hold my interest having played FPS on PC before, on the contrary, it felt (for me) like a bad bargain bin game from some obscure developer from a country you never heard of with no internet presence and patches whatsoever. The thing my local book store has outside of the shop for quick grabs. look: gah, colors !
I don't think I can think of any feature in HALO that would support a sentence containing "Halo 1 is better than *** because....", oh, stupid me, oc there is:
halo1 > 2 > 3
:)

Halo 1 is better than Deer Hunter 2 because Christ mothra, stop with the hyperbole.

@mothra
Calm down, dude. I was confused with something DaveW said, there's no need to be so defensive.

Shoddy BBC journalism as usual. Have read Sony's rebuff? Of course the BBC had nothing to say in reply.

I'm noticing something interesting with the PS3 and my job; I was at a large Soho post house today fixing one of their Avid DS suites, and I noticed that each suite has a PS3 in it. And it makes sense really; as a blu ray player it's relatively cheap, it's got wireless, so they don't need extra network connections running to the rooms, and at a pinch, it's a very serviceable web browser. Oh, and it plays games too, which gives the editor something to do while waiting for that composite-heavy render to finish :D
Pretty cool!
They're lovely suites as well; really flash and comfy.
Found out while I was there that this was the post house that finished Moon.

So, what's the deal with upscaling on this console? With my Xbox I just set it to 1080i and the machine takes care of the rest.
With my new PS3, I have to select all possible resolutions, and then the system chooses whatever native resolution the game supports. But this is almost always 720p, and—say what you will—on this 42" projection tv, 1080i looks sharper. And the only way I can force games to upscale is by deselecting 720p in the display options. Here's where we run into problems: some games, like Little Big Planet, will not upscale. Some, like Mirror's Edge (the demo, anyway) upscale, but poorly (lots of shimmering and aliasing). Others, like Bioshock, look flawless upscaled, and others still, like Uncharted 2, look nearly flawless (minor visual glitches usually only noticeable in cutscenes).
So is this constant juggling of resolutions just something a PS3 owner lives with? Are newer games more likely to upscale properly? I'd set it at 720 and forget it, but the tv's fairly large, and things start to get kinda blurry. Sure, that's fussy of me, but it's not like we don't buy these things for the fancy graphics.
