Got backwards compatibility with my ps3 since I got one around the time they came out here in AUS. That said the compatibility is alright other than glitches in some games. As an example I played an hours worth of Silent Hill 2 on it, and there was slight gfx glitches in the background. Nothing major, but enough to piss someone off who wants a perfect experience (I didn`t care).
On the overall whole I`m happy with my ps3. There might not be that many great games on it, but those that there are that I have played have been excellent.
One area where I regulary get pissed off though is with EA and their shitty ports to the ps3. They have a really bad track record of doing very bad ports. Valve is another victim of this as well. Its stuff like that, that can be the choice between a 360 and a ps3 for some people. For me knowing that MGS4 was going to be on it and the best version of Devil May Cry 4 and then throw in blue ray movies and it was a done deal for me. That and I absolutely loved the ps2 and ps1.

What's better about the PS3 version?

I wonder how many people bought a PS3 back when it was new just for the Blu-Ray player.
I'm one of them. I have about 40 blu-ray movies and 6 PS3 games only two of which do I play - MotorStorm and its sequel. I do love watching HD movies on my Sony HDTV.

Note I`m not including the pc version in that as it wasn`t even planned back when the ps3 first came out. But the ps3 version is better graphically and has better load times.

Best post ITT.
Oh, and N64 games went for $40-70. Which I guess could be $100 in some alternate reality. Considering that every brand new game for the 360/PS3 is going for $60-65 that doesn't seem like a big deal.

To be fair I'm pretty sure DaBeast is an Aussie, in which his figures sure are right, in $AU. N64 games even went up to like $110 at some points, 360 games are about the $100 dollar mark new, about $60 once they have been out for a little while. That's why Yahtzee is always complaining that Aussies get buttfucked by prices.

Games are between $100-$120 for 360 and ps3 here in AUS. Too much for anything but a purchase your damn sure you`ll like.

9 exclusives that you're interested in is pretty decent. Add to that the myriad of multiplatform games and I'd be pretty happy.
The Team Ico game is on the maybe hand? That'd pretty much be the only reason I would consider buying a PS3.
But really, how many exclusives for Xbox 360 can you name? I have a 360, and I got it for Halo and Gears. There are other nice bonuses, like Left 4 Dead and Orange Box, but for the most part my interest is in the multiplatform games and the 360 was simply cheaper (I also can't stand PS3 controllers).

I bought my 360 in August 2007. I was hyped for Halo 3, Mass Effect, Too Human, Ninja Gaiden 2, Fable 2.
-Halo 3 was a colossal disappointment, utterly mediocre game (although it was far from being terrible and an honest improvement over Halo 2).
-While Mass Effect was terrific, I would've waited if the PC version had been confirmed at the time.
-I have yet to play the latter three, but Too Human was reportedly a disappointment (I was a big fan of Eternal Darkness and the MGS1 Gamecube remake).

I have yet to play my copy of Ico and I don't own SotC yet.
