I've got a question about Valkyria Chronicles. Since there's no thread here for it, and it seems only a few folks have played the game, I'll ask it here.
I'm thinking of buying the game, but will probably have to import it to do so. The question is, do the people who've played it think it's worth ~$80, or should I wait for the price to come down (if ever)?

80 bucks? It's 50 here. Penny Arcade's Tycho swore by it, I played the demo and it was a lot of fun, and supposedly it's got a really fleshed out story (which, ironically, is what detered PA's Gabe), so I'd say so.

It's very good, but the difficulty spikes nastily at Chapter 7.
I haven't got the patience to persist with it, as while the turn-based combat is good, it's nothing compared to say Silent Storm. Is that $80 Australian?
I got it for £29, which is ~$69 AU.
If I can strategy guide my way past chapter 7, I may persist, but other, more accessible games have been dragging me away.

Nope, that's $80 USD at the moment. The game doesn't seem to have hit retail here, and most of the local online stores treat it as the Second Coming of MGS4, because that's the only other game that's selling at such an artificially inflated price point. I'll probably be able to get it for $10 less, though, so let's say 70 American Smackers.

Penny Arcade's Tycho was not exactly a reliable judge of games even before he went out all Mac.

Define 'reliable' as it relates to someone's opinion of a game that they post on their blog.

Yeah, fucking gold, that one.
BTW, help has been dispatched in the form of a Sony rep to reprogram your mind to accept Sony as your Lord and Saviour.
don't blame me! I just work here. ;)

Yeah, I'll go with this as my second exhumed thread of the day.

£199 and I'd consider picking one up, but the cheapest one is getting on for twice that of the mid-range 360, which is just plain stupid.
Well, keep your fingers crossed, you might just get a chance to consider it then. There've been rumours flying about regarding a possible PS3 price cut for some time now, and, naturally Sony's been denying them like a champ. This one, while no exception, is the first one to suggest the price:

"It's been on the cards for a while," the retailer is quotes as saying, "but manufacturers are not in the habit of giving exact dates so as not to effect sales."
The rumored price cut is supposed to bring the PS3 down to US$300 and is expected to be announced next week.
That's ~200£. Now, whether there is some fact to this rumour or it's just wishful thinking remains to be seen.
