Look at it this way:
Star Wars officially exists as the original (unmodified) three films.
Everything else is a fan work.
It works for me.

Haha, this thread is reminding me of that South Park episode "(
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_Hat) Free Hat." The climax of that episode pretty much nails the experience of the prequel trilogy and Indy 4*.
*I haven't seen Indy 4; but from what I've heard, it sounded like that was the case.

I would have hoped there would be more discussion about the actual game in here (ok it's a demo but still). I know the prequel trilogy is shit and ruined the Universe, tbh only the original and the Thrawn trilogy still feel like Star Wars to me.
That said, in terms of gaming there's Jedi Knight, KotOR and all that stuff and it's still fun to play through those, regardless of Lucas being a hack. The devs managed to create good games and those won't be edited after the fact. I can still play through DF2: Jedi Knight without hearing about midichlorians. KotOR might as well be a whole new universe only incidentally connected to Star Wars as they set it 40 000 years prior...
I don't know, super powers are still fun and they managed mindblowing physics in TFU that we can take advantage of. I'm cool with that. Bitching about the prequels is justified, but somewhat irrelevant to TFU's own qualities (or lack thereof).

Most of TTLG's populace are console hating elitists and since there's no PC version on the horizon, what else are they going to discuss?
The demo played like a dumbed down version of Devil May Cry.

Fixed.

Eva, fair enough.
van HellSing, you're being redundant. If that's the only thing you've got to say, we could read it the first time.

Dissing Lucas is at least semi relevant. While he was uninvolved in most (all?, not sure about SOTE, the previous multimedia extravaganza) previous games he was apparently involved in this one at least to an extent.

I am still struggling to finish off the fianl AT-ST
Throw stuff at him till he's out of health, then you'll see a symbol indicating a button on your gampad, press it to start a QuickTimeEvent. If you mess it up, zap him with forcelightning and try again.

Funny, I liked the demo precisely because it reminded me of the Jedi Knight games.
Really? It reminded you of those other LucasArts-developed third-person Star Wars actiongames that focus on lightsaber-combat and forcepowers?
The gameplay in this one is more like a poor man's Ninja Gaiden with clunky controls and a bad camera. The earlier Jedi Knight games made me feel like a badass Jedi Master. This one just makes me feel like a bumbling idiot with a lightsaber.
Still, it's not completely worthless, just not up there with the JK series. Like others have said, it might be worth picking out of the bargain bin.

Third-person?!
Matthew on 26/8/2008 at 15:54
Third-person was by far the nicest way to play Academy.
