Yeah they're on the way.

Since it's an Android phone and there are already emulators on Android for for the GBA, NES, SNES, Gamegear, Megadrive, C64, Amiga, PS1 and think even a specific Scumm there could be some awesome developments here.
What makes it stand out, if you hadn't guessed already, is the addition of a D-Pad, thumb "pads", face buttons and shoulder buttons - something no Android phone has had before iirc. Oh, and it'll play PSP games too.
Then there is the PSP2.
This is a concept photoshop derived from some low quality smuggled pics.

It's supposedly got a lot of power behind it even getting close to a PS3s power, though I don't quite believe that. But what is it for? Doesn't the PSP do a good enough job for handheld games? I'd rather play on my PS3 thanks and if they're going to re-issue PS2 games on it I'd rather play those on my PS3 as well.
Anyone going to be getting either of these? If I had the chance to upgrade my Android phone to the PS Phone and the reviews of it
as an Android phone/device were good I'd probably go for it. The PSP2 would need some serious hook for me to consider it though, especially as it'll probably be hella expensive.
Course this will be a moot point if I make it to the Google conference this year and have a freebie choice of a Nexus S or PS Phone.
fingers crossed for bothEdit: Oh, this is what the PSP2 really looks like.

Getting outsold 2:1 by your competitor is hardly good enough for any company that plans on staying in business. They need to do something.

4 years after purchasing my PSP, I still don't understand why Sony never put two thumbsticks in it. Not that it matters much I guess, I only own 4 games for the damn thing.
That said I'm much more interested in the Playstation Phone than the PSP2.

That seems like it would be quite unbalanced

Ok so the PSP2 looks... powerful. The hardware is... impressive. To say the least. What. The. Hell? Seriously? It's like wtf? The only thing they've skimped on is a 3D screen.
But I still don't know who this is aimed at. It's a blooming big beast and I don't even know what to say about it. Frikking gg Sony, good bloody game.
The res is 4 times that of the PSP and almost 3 times that of the 3DS and it will have a Quad core CPU. Let's not mention the touch screen, rear touch pad and all the other stuff. Who the hell is this aimed at? It's bound to be really expensive and if I'm spending that much money I'd rather spend it on a home console for the big screen TV.
The simultaneous reveal of this Playstation Suite PS games/app store thing for Android phones is more utilitarian.

This thing would be absolutely fantastic to have overseas.

I just read a thing which makes it a little bit more appealing to me.
The suggestion, by some big game dev that presented at the Sony conference (iirc), that you could have the same game on the PSP2 and PS3 and could share saves in such a way as to complete the game across the devices.
Now that would be something.

If it's really that powerful, it should have an HDMI jack to hook it up to the TV and become a PS3 replacement.
SubJeff on 28/1/2011 at 01:28
Yeah, it's not THAT powerful.
