Keeper Soledad:
"Finally ! After months lost in that forsaken city of underwater monstruosities I finally managed to escape. The other Keepers must think I am dead by now ! I hope they managed to stop the prophecies without my help..."
"Ah, the Keepers entrance... Now just touch the gliph and... Huh, where´s the gliph ?"
After days searching for any other keeper around...
"How I am going to survive here ! Hugh... I am hungry. Well, I will just steal some loot to buy some food. It´s just for emergency, yep."
Why do people hate a Thief-like game probably coming from bethesda? In my opinion some maps were very, very thief-like in Elder Scrolls Oblivion, it had some stealth, some truly interesting well done creatures, awesome loot and weapons. I played as assassine and with light armor or black robe, lots of bow and stealth skills it almost felt like thief. In fact if you play it as assassine or thief the only differences to thief-like gameplay was that:
* Creatures saw you after you attacked them with a bow, no matter how well you were hidden in the shadows.
* No mantling
* Missing thief equipment
* No body pick-up
* No blackjack
It even had good zombies.
I also liked the lock picking a lot more, the first lock picking were you need some kind of skill.
If bethesda wants to make a thiefish game they dont have a long way to go, they have the skill to make good creatures, they have a great graphics engine, awesome thief-like map skills and really made a bow that handles pretty well. IMO bethesda would the best Thief-Maker right now, they should at least try to make a Thief 4.(Actually Thief 3)

I agree. They have what it takes to revive the series and create another international hit - if it's done right.

I guess that if we really want to make things move
maybe we should write a letter to everyone at Bethesda
telling them how completely awesome they are , how we love'em so much , and that if they want lots of $ they just have to make a thief sequel (with some of our humble advices)
and get as many people as possible to sign it
First , brainstorming about the letter itself...

I support this :D
We could nicely ask them:
1) If they have ownership of the Thief trademark.
2) If they are making or planning to make a Thief 4 in the next 5 years.

I just had a crazy idea. Bethesda is obvoiusly proud of it's mod comunity, which got me thinking that perhaps if thief-fanmissionmakers remade their already splendid maps using the tes constructionset and released them so that they can be used together with the Thieves Arsenal mod, Bethesda might see the "light" and have a go for the Thief lisence.
It's a long shot, (I know) but if people started flooding their mod forum with thief fanmissions they would surely be impressed, right? The thief mod community must atleast rival that of tes as far as I can tell, if not by numbers then surely in regards of the quality of the works produced.
I guess that a regular thief fanmission level would take about two to three months to remake for Oblivion, but in the end it really depends on the complexity of the map of course.

If they don't have the IP it doesn't matter anyway.

I'm fairly certain Bethesda is well aware of the abnormally large presence of Thief fans in its community.

I just got an idea when reading another thread (about what would have happened if Gamal had won at the end of Thief: Deadly Shadows). What about Thief: The Dark Age, a "what if"-sequel? This sequel would take place in a world where the Dark Age was a reality and Gamal was still "alive and kicking". Garrett would have been killed by Gamal and the other Keepers would be dead (or enslaved?).
This would give room for a lot of new ideas and also a new main character. It wouldn't spoil the mystery of Garrett either (which is one reason I otherwise would oppose the making of a sequel). The Thief-universe could be used, but it would probably be a lot different, because of the Dark Age. What does Gamal want with the world? What would a world be like without (or enslaved?) Hammers, Pagans and Keepers, but still with functioning glyphs (and prophecies?) owned and used by Gamal?
Garrett could still be referred to, maybe in an old recording or text (or even a ghost?). What about Garrett's dead body?
This sequel has the potential of being a homage to the original Thief games and at the same being something completely new and dark, and since it's not really a sequel it wouldn't have to be compared to the original Thief games. I would be fascinated to see what the Dark Age would really be like!

i thought the dark age was "the age without glyphs and prophecies" to begin with;
that thread just seemed ill thought to me.
as for the parallel universe thing , it just doesn't fit thief...
