I've been shopping around Amazon.ca/.com, and I've been seeing various version of the two Thief games. I was inclined to take the original, big boxed versions (if I could find them, there's only Thief Gold) but I happened upon two jewel CD versions that appeared to be XP re-releases. Do these labels hold any truth to them? Are they worth getting? Do they still work on older versions of Windows?

I am not personally sure about the validity of the compatibility claims, but I see not reason not to believe them. It does not really make a difference, however. Almost everyone has managed to get the older versions to work on XP with a little bit of tweaking. It's really the graphics cards which cause a great deal of the problems. TMA looks cheap on Amazon, so I guess you could try it. TG seems a little expensive, however. I'd check on ebay for that one. There are plenty of good deals right now.

As I expected. I mean, System Shock 2 was super easy to get to work on XP.
And forgive me if I ask, what TMA and TG are? I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to Thief, assuming these two terms pertain to them. :erm:

The following terms are equivalent:
Thief: The Dark Project = Thief, Thief 1, Dark Project, TDP
Thief Gold = TG
Thief II: The Metal Age = Thief 2, Metal Age, TMA
Thief Gold is just Thief with some improvements and extra missions.

Ah, I see, thank you.

I couldn't help but notice you forgot about Thief 3. I make this mistake all the time. In my case it is because I never bought or played Thief 3 due to all the FMs available. :laff:
