Just wondering if anyone knows if the new ARX game will include any puzzles? (thinking required). One of the things that stood out from the original Underworld was the ingenious puzzles that actually required you to think. Like the wand puzzle from UW1(can't remember the name of this puzzle but it included a series of switches and platforms and a wand that reset the puzzle so I just call it the wand puzzle). Or who can forget deciphering the lizardman's language from UW1. Man, that one really required you to think (If there ever was a more brilliant puzzle in any game than that one, someone lemme know). I just hope the game isn't dumbed down to get a larger target audience. I believe that the younger gamers, and the more action oriented gamer are going to choose the quakes and unreals over ARX anyway. I think it would be best if the designers just pick their target audience (more advanced, intelligent gamer

We've designed a lot of puzzles, as you said, players who want pure action will play 1st person shooters, so we're not trying to make any compromise on Arx. About puzzles, I would say that the toughest thing was to get them to fit 'logically' into the story, rather than placing them just for the sake of it. Also, as the development progress, we're putting more and more little extra puzzles and secrets that were not initially planned on the game design.
