So I guess the version I downloaded is not protected, even if it asks me for Thief CD? And this is the reason why DDFix doesn't work on the original copy I purchased?
mhm... Hexeditor is no problem...
@Thread Do you install the ddfix with the GUI or manual via .exe correction a la Hexeditor?
Cliftor on 24/2/2009 at 19:05
I tried the GUI version. Never used a hex editor.
Ok, I'll use the patched exe in the ddfix thread. How do I tell if they're up to date with the latest ddfix?
EDIT: It works! Oh, how beautiful. Playing Thief in widescreen! It brings tears to my eyes.
Thanks. Now I just need to do the Darkloader rondo.

TTLG does not allow anyone to post links to cracked executable files. Just keep this discussion away from the posting of any such files and you're in good shape. What you do or download outside of this forum is your own business.

Thief 2 Premier Patch ((
http://thief-thecircle.com/download.asp?fid=423) http://thief-thecircle.com/download.asp?fid=423. Unfortunately those links are down.) contains copy protection (it still does cd check) free thief2.exe for those who want apply fixes like ddfix or others manually.
And it is official patch so there is no cracked .exe's to be found by warez weenies.

For some reason, I couldn't get the patched .exe from the ddfix thread to work, but was able to patch my own using DDFixGUI. I have the SoldOut edition of T2.

Did you? Funny, I have the SoldOut edition too and I couldn't. If you have some time, could you care making a small sum of the steps you took, in their order?
Hell we have the same starting software - we should somehow deterministically be able to reach the same outcome by taking the same steps.
BTW, Vista or XP? XP here.

The first time I tried DDFix, I couldn't get it to work for some reason, but months later, on my second attempt, I succeeded. The steps I took were:
- Install Thief 2
- Patch the game to 1.18
- Download and extract the DDFix files to the same folder as thief2.exe
- Open DDFixGUI, choose the resolution you want to play in and click "Apply patch"
- Start the game, got to Options and choose the resolution you specified in DDFixGUI
When I first tried (unsuccessfully) to apply DDFix, I think I may have forgotten the last step, somehow thinking the resolution was automatically changed.
Last week, I was trying to apply the fix to the computer of a friend who just bought T2, but DDFixGUI wouldn't start at all (just gave an error message). Hopefully I just messed up with the copying of the files from my own computer, but apparently some have had problems getting the GUI version to run. Oh, and I'm using XP, too, and so is my friend.

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation.
