Question of legality - T3 fix. - by grancheater

While looking for a way to fix my installation of T3, I found a fix for the crash I have heard mentioned when trying to do mission 8, after the clocktower mission.
After having the same trouble and using this fix, which is modified level files and loading screens, I was able to continue and and thought of sharing the grace of The Builder fix with the TTLG community.
However, the only sites I have been able to find the fix also had cracks and full downloads of T3 and other games, so I'm in doubt if I'm allowed to post them here. They are only map files, but shady origin.
So, my question is, would I be allowed to post the fix? I'll of course, upload it to a free file hosting service, so I don't unintentionally link to warez.

What sort of bug is so severe that you have to resort to altered maps? I've certainly never encountered any, even after installing a lot of extra stuff that seems to have made thief3 more crash-prone. I finished the game in the original state with maybe 1-2 crashes.
BTW using ion storm's original unprotected exe taken from the t3ed seems to take heaps of stiffness and unresponsiveness out of thief 3. The difference is night and day.

I have read on this and Eidos' forums that for some people the game crashes when loading
the keeper's compound.
The only solution I have seen (other than the on I'm talking about) is using downloaded savegames so that hopefully, it may work.
Since I don't use the original exe, I'm pretty sure it's not related to that, and other than this particular bug, only had 1-2 crashes, at random, while this one is always at around 20% of the level loaded.
Also, I'm only guessing they are maps because they go in the maps folder (but, what if they're bitmaps?):D

I've been having the exact same problem, just when I was starting to really get into it! Do you think you could send me the link for the fix, or give me an idea of how to find it? I would really appreciate it. Thanks

I see only an error message:
Quote:
The quickkey you provided for file download was invalid. This is usually caused because the file is no longer stored on Mediafire. This occurs when the file is removed by the originating user or Mediafire.

I can't really test it myself because I don't have such problem. I just compared original and modified files.
1. These files are byte-to-byte the same as original:
[Bitmap]
Stonemarket1.dds
Stonemarket2.dds
Stonemarket3.dds
[Maps]
KeeperCompound1.gmp
KeeperCompound2.gmp
Anyone who HAS this problem, please compare these files with yours.
2. These files are changed:
KeeperCompound1.ibt
KeeperCompound2.ibt
The difference is in some strings and seems like really some typo correction:
bepwall -> kepwall
btatue -> statue
bace_female -> face_female
etc, etc.
Everything else looks the same. So I think someone could write a patch-program to modify a file instead of copying it.
And I wonder if that patch (or similar) can fix the load error of Stonemarket zone after Clocktower mission and Docks after Abysmal Gale.

The bitmap files are different for me, the original ones showed The Hammerite Cathedral and
Gamall's Lair
