i jut dont see how posting thief 1 or 2 or gold sounds is agisnt the law

since the dromed was given out to use and as long as he is not making money on it

now if it was thief 3 i could see this post making sence

and even the maker of post said he just posted them,leaving me to belive it is free to get and as far as credit goes only a noob would not know what thief sounds were

so please keep posting and draging this out to try to make me look bad,but in the end that guy will not be in any trouble since he did not break the law

there are people who post full games on things like limewire/etc and sites

and some poor guy who puts some sounds up is up for debate to turn in,wow shocking

so i guess i should warn all the thief fm makers who do the same thing and dont give credit? cause i dont want anyone to get in trouble just for trying to make a fm weather using sounds or grapics,just so people like me can enjoy them,cause i dont want anyone snitching on them

and i would think the reason he posted them was for people to use in fan mission,which in that case they would need the retail game to play it

Do you understand what an "asset" is? Broadly defined, an asset is an item, though in this context, an asset is a piece of the game. It could be a texture, a model, a sound file, a map -- many things, in fact. An "original game asset" is one of these items that is included with the original game. The asset exists on the retail CD in some form.

If FM authors are including alternate, non-copyright, royalty-free or licensed audio with their FMs, that's fine. If they're using copyrighted material without express permission of the original owner, that's not fine. If you want to report the individuals who have done the latter (if there are any), have at it. Nobody here is stopping you.

As I said previously, if you want confirmation on anything others have said previously, consult an attorney. If you want to report FM authors who have bundled copyrighted assets, go ahead and do that too. But if someone decides to report the guy who made this Oblivion mod, don't get pissy about it.
