I've heard through a friend that there is a remake of the thief gold levels for thief 2. Its the whole campaign. Does anyone know where I can find it, or know if it actually exists? I can't seem to figure it out...

The community generally frowns on any porting of Thief1 levels to thief2, unless they're used as base for a fan mission.
There was a Thief2 Gold project around here someplace which was planning to add some polish to the T2 OMs and integrate some missions and story that was cut in the original release. You friend might be thinking of that, but I think the project stalled last I heard.

I know some missions were ported, but I don't know about the full game, and yeah, it's not a safe topic. I know there are enhancements to upgrade the T1 textures, etc., to resemble T2 more.
