The front gate of Soulforge Cathedral is the only way to get in and out of the place, right? That means that when Garrett activates the Servant recall signal the Servants have to come in that way.
Well, wouldn't Karras notice what was going on then even if he was oblivious before? I mean, there's a camera right above the door. I reckon Karras would be watching through that one pretty attentively. He'd want to see Garrett leave the building, and make sure he didn't try to come back. If that's so, then wouldn't he see the Servants come in and figure out pretty quickly what Garrett had done?
Or have I misunderstood something?

Watch the end cutscene again. Do you see Karras hanging out in the security room? Nay, you do not! He's getting all primped up for his grand Big Button Pressing ceremony.

That still makes no sense. Are you telling me that Karras spent so long away from his chamber that he didn't see the Servants coming? Remember that the Servants were stashed in mansions all around the City, some further away from Soulforge than others. That means they'd be arriving one at a time over the course of a few hours, and that Karras was away from his monitors before the first one arrived, didn't hit the button until the last one was in the building and had stupidly stashed the button for Soulforge's air-tight sealing mechanism
and the Servant detonator in rooms that have no camera viewscreens.
What an idiot.

Just think of him as a classic James Bond villain and his behavior makes more sense.

Gonna sound dumb, but my memory is a bit rusty on the issue:
Were there actually camera view-screens? I remember them setting off alarms, but I don't remember there being any screens or people involved in the process.

That's a very good point- I suppose the only reason we have to believe Karras could see what was going on (even if he didn't) was because he somehow knew very well about Viktoria's death, and then he knows Garrett's in there (and here's the clincher) only *after* the camera sees him and turns red.

Karras usually does a little gloating speech when you wander in view of one of the faces. I think he can see you.

He might just know the camera can see you, and assumes it's Garrett (otherwise he might be a bit more worried by all the green)

is there any way to fail the "dont let karras know whats going on" objective? i have played soulforge through twice, and neither time i discovered a way for that?
ZylonBane on 10/11/2006 at 20:58
It's impossible to fail that objective.
