We are more than willing to help. But you need to give us EXACT information.
To a minor degree all guides are good. But many of them will be at different levels of difficulty. The "normal" level will ignore a lot of the special items. Most walkthroughs other than the "semi-official" ones just give you the bare minimum to get through the lowest levels.
When you ask for help, tell us EXACTLY where you are and what the problems are.
For example:
I am in the pool at the bottom of the waterfall in LOST CITY. I can't seem to get out.
Or:
I am in the bank in the front foyer where the counters are. The outside doors won't open.
Or:
I am in the corridor to the crypts just past the lava lake in TDP. I can't get across the large gap in the floor.
Your queries so far have been more than useless.
As for needing a walkthrough (Prima or whatever) you need to slow down, look around and read everything you find, look at every inch to find the loot, secrets etc. and stop trying to be a macho "I beat the game" player.
It don't work like "Kill everything that moves" type games. You need to rethink your game play for this one, and how to ask a question that is clear enough that someone can actually answer.

It's almost as if he thinks Thief is a puzzle game, like Myst.
Hahah, when you are trying to ghost thieves guild and get everything, it does almost become a puzzle game. Mind you, thievery for ut helps with the speed ghosting techniques required.
In fact, that is the only thing i would possibly recommend a walkthrough for - to help ghost things that you think might not be possible. At least that way you will know if it has been done.
For such purpose, Klatremus' site is the only one i know (
http://home.online.no/~ajnilsen/hn/hn.htm) :)
Still, it's a lot more rewarding trying to work it out yourself first and only going there for specific problems.
If you use a normal walkthrough for things, you will only ruin the surprise and enjoyment of the game. It's also another reason why having to keep reloading ruins the game - the surprise and flow is all gone - so try and avoid that too.

Welcome to TTLG friend... :ebil:
Anywho, forget about it. Something tells me that Deadly Shadows is what you are really looking for. :) I dont think that The Dark Project et al is what you want. You want something simplistic, that can easily be achieved through mundane step by step progression. Usually it is the younger folks that need this particular type of reinforcement. ;) Unfortunately for you, Thief was originally designed as a game that contained, among many other elitist qualities, a built-in preemptive "guide" to train Novices. Provided you allowed your senses to be controlled by the game itself, which used to be the point of classic gaming. The training Mission, and each of the early Missions in Dark Project introduces and trains you in new elements of the sneaking concept incrementally throughout the Mission, so that you really cant miss it! After just a few Missions, you should easily be able to know when guards are around, know when you are safely hidden, know how to walk into a secure area and identify the types of places loot might be placed. At a certain point, you will be comfortable actually running into unsecured areas and grabbing the loot you spied out earlier, all while keeping patrol routes, general layout of the Mission, and cameras in mind! That takes a while, but hey. We cant *all* be masters. :) Simply put, the team put in ample training segments into the beginning of the game on purpose. It is an extra or a bonus to an already classic gaming endeavor. Unlike most other games at the time, Thief followed no template of gameplay. They invented first person sneaking, and adhered to the concept whilst designing the game. The way you talk is as if you had never even played the training Mission or possibly even the first few Missions! If you got through all the Missions up to The Bank using a guide in the way you illustrated in this thread, oh my God! You havent given up/pulled your hair out/died of boredom-monotony/gotten it yet?? Give up on the game period. Go get Deadly and have at it! Playing the first games are for grown ups, or the kids who actually have a freakin' clue. Thief aint no place for little kiddies. However, it is never too late friend... There is still time to go back to Dark Project and be reborn. Novices are still being reborn to this very day. :ebil: All you need is to apply, within game. Go back to Bafford's and find out what this little society is all about. Even if not now, when you are ready, and I will see you at the Cloister. Mwahahaaaaaa :p

But I beaten dark project on expert its was quite easy and I enjoyed myself quite abit the only 3 levels I found to be annyoing was the sword because at tone of the staircase that lead back to the first floor there was a guard, stuck walking into a barrel but I went around and somehow got him with my blackjack by hiding in the shadows and going around and this one small part of strange bed fellows with monkey men patrolling the basement and escape.I got through the first five levels quite easily it just I havent a guide with a similar style to Taffers and I am having a hard time readjusting. Here is the area I am stuck at.By using the loot map I have found out what staircase its talking about its the staircase that leads up to the room with the goblet on the corner table and the nook with the torch that leads to the room with the watcher outside the hall of records. The problem is I have to go through the meeting room but their is guard in the intersection with tile floor in the way,any suggestions on how to deal with him. That and mind the fact for a good while I was exclusively a console game because the first to PC's I had stunk I could only run old dos games and then later quake 3 engine games and did know about the theif series until I rented Deadly shadows 3 time on xbox.Just cause I owned an xbox I still think halo sucks.
