i haven´t bought this game yet, maybe because i got a feeling that this game is going to be a disapointment, from what i saw in the trailer doesn´t look impressive, it looks like "borderlands", "bullestorm" or "Red faction- guerrila" wich were also a disapointment, very repetetive games in all ways, its been a long time i don´t play a game that can suprise and give me a lot of satisfaction, "Crysis 2" and "fear3" were also a big disapointment. ID software always released amazing games like the quake series, Wolfenstein and Doom 3, but i´m afraid that "Rage" is going to turn out to be a repetive game, with ordinary scenarios, predictable story, with no mystery or suspense, probably another game loaded of cloned buildings , objects and creature from the beginning to the end.
Like Crysis 2 where you see always the same buildings being cloned from the beginning to the end. games have evoluted in graphics and characters animation, but concerning the gameplay , storyline, the choice of scenarios, soundtrack they have become less interesting...or maybe its me that i´m becoming to old to play videogames.

borderlands was yummy
fear 3 was... interesting, but as a long-time FEAR fan the 2nd one remains my favourite

I think the non-repetition in Rage's (and Borderlands, for that matter) environments is actually one of the strong points. Sure, they're all apocolyptic but they're always uniquely detailed and varied - thus far anyway, I'm still tooling around the first main hub of Wellspring.
Just discovered the first sewer, I expect they can get pretty samey but then why wouldn't they be?

Yeah Borderlands is anything but copy-paste. The richness of the world kept me playing long after the gameplay might have made me tire of it.

Yes it is you. Have you considered giving up aging?

I did not like Fear 3 at all, and Crysis 2 was a fantastic game. Criticizing the music of Crysis 2 as being uninteresting has got to be an entirely subjective viewpoint, That game has the most amazing soundtrack of anything I've heard all year. Across all genres. Hans Zimmer has come into maturity with that piece of artwork. The transitional themes are as iconic and emotionally engaging as the star wars themes. Richard Wagner himself would be proud of the use of leitmotif and motivic transformation!!

Back on topic:
I've been defending the game thus far because I see its potential, the tech problems have mostly been fixed already and I've been having a ton of fun playing it. But I have one sudden huge complaint that makes me want to rail against ID and their design team.
I just beat it. WTF!?!!? there was no build up, no drama, no sense that the game was just about over and I was walking into the last bastion of badassed badguys to win the day for all of decent humanity. Nope. I just went on another mission, routine. and the BAM Cutscene, 4 simultaneous achievements earned, credits roll. buh!?
It's so odd.. It doesnt' seem rushed out, or compromised in anyway, it just feels.... truncated. What have you been doing all of these years developing this game if not creating content? It doesn't take an entire studio of people to create an engine. I'm sure Carmack did most of the work himself. What the hell was everybody else doing?

yep, the old man in subway town teases a 60foot tall monster and all I got was a few hold/breach levels. Not that it was no fun just ... over so quick.

Is this intended to be a joke...?

I am so sick of these drive by postings. If you've got a problem with something I've said, explain the flaws you see, offer an opposing opinion, an I'll either clarify what I meant, argue my point, or submit to your logic. "No it's not a joke", is the only response I have to your question. Are we done or do you have a point to make?

You'd like me to point out the flaw in your suggestion that a staff of over 200 people simply sat on their hands during the development of a $100m+, AAA title over the span of some six years, and that one man – John Carmack – did everything on the project by his lonesome?
I'm not certain this is necessary.
