Random thoughts... - by Tocky

Whatever happened to you today or whatever thought popped into your head or anything you want to share. Random shit.
You do not want to know what is on my mind at this moment, it will be a very lengthy whiny rant. It would be about something I lost and can never get back. But this isn't about that.
So, instead, I'll go with my second most recent thought. I have decided to adopt a new online behaviour policy. Well, it's not really new, I'm just extending it to my various little spheres of interest, and unfortunately TTLG is just the last one. I started with YouTube.
A few years ago, I decided that I would only ever comment on a YouTube video if I had something positive to say. The internet is full of idiots, and we all know all too well how seemingly harmless comments can escalate to ridiculous proportions. So, I decided, if I was to say anything at all, it must be positive. I'm pretty sure I've managed that so far. I've praised several awesome bands on their great songs. I have said nothing about the inane crap that makes me want to rip out my ears and stuff them down my throat to prevent me from vomiting. I keep those thoughts to myself.
Then I expanded it a bit. Facebook. Now I hate how people behave on FB, and the stupid and inane things they post, but again, I decided to never post my displeasure. No sarcasm, which is quite hard for me as a bitter old cynic. Negative comments breed negative comments. Everything escalates. And suddenly you have an idiot in the White House. So, I only post when I feel strongly positive about something, which is quite rare, so I don't post a lot, but my point still stands.
Since my recent return to TTLG, I have not yet adopted this philosophy here. But, I feel I really should. I shouldn't expose you poor innocent bystanders to my own stupid negative opinions about things you like.
This is not about self-censorship, though. If there is an important discussion to be had, and I have a strong opinion about it, I will voice it, regardless of what it happens to be, but largely, I will try to stay with my above policy. Sticking to that also makes me somewhat more immune to trolls. It's clearly not a perfect method, but it has stopped me more than once from posting something stupid, just pausing for one second to think "is this positive, or by posting this, will I make things worse?". It's starting to become second nature. I just need to stick to it.
It's just like your mother used to say. If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. It's just that simple.

Every morning there's a spiderweb on my driver-side-view mirror. I clean it off - but next morning it's there again. Every day, we each wish the other would stop it already.

LOL Pyrian.
I try to control myself. Sometimes I win and sometimes lose. I would love to be absolutely honest all the time but I'm certain that wouldn't work out so well. Selective honesty is perfectly okay with me.
Did a couple of Count Eeflac episodes for the station. I don't mind them so much though I wish I could pick stuff other than public domain. It has forced me to watch some I would never have seen and that is sometimes good. Spider Baby was enjoyable and one of Rob Zombie's favorites. He even used one of the stars in it as Captain Spalding. It was the last sober role of Lon Chaney Jr. and he was good in it. I wish I didn't have to do promotional stuff though. Next weekend I have to play Eeflac at a Halloween party down at the station. I would so much rather go to Arx Mortis haunted house with my daughter like usual.

If your opinion is forever unchanging then you've never actually had an opinion--you have a set predilection, one most likely formed by and adhering to the set predilections of someone else or a group.

Thanks for teaching me a new word, Q. I thought normally the word bias was used to describe liking over opinion, but I guess this sounds like it emphasises it even more.
I guess my one unique thought today was: If my life is in disharmony with your ideology of your life, I don't sleep. Changing ideology in my case is comparable to changing species, which seems impossible, and changing a deeply engraved way of life is probably comparable to changing the laws of physics. Needs a black hole.

Idea for a boat-name: "You And Me Boat".
Thoughts?
I don't have a boat btw so if anyone has one and needs a name feel free to use it!
