It's an interesting idea, that's for sure. Though like everything to do with Windows 8, laptop, and tablets, I suggest people waiting on getting a purchase now since Intel's Haswell chips are right around the corner. If even half the hype is true, you can expect thinner, lighter machines capable of running at least a couple hours longer on a charge.

True. Though in this situation, it's justifiable to wait a few more months. Haswell will make a MASSIVE difference in battery life. You could get a laptop now that lasts about 5-6 hours on a charge, or wait til the end of the year and get one that can (allegedly) last almost as long as an iPad. Even the integrated GPU is borderline decent.
Right now just isn't a good time to get a laptop or x86 tablet. Not with such a potentially huge upgrade coming so soon.
