Hello folks,
I do hope your all well. I've been trying to catch up on the great posts here, always has been a brilliant site.
Well I've waited long enough. The dark winter nights are here (I'm in the UK) and its time to work through the brilliant trilogy (plus fan missions). Heck, I reckon I'll be playing for months :) I'm gonna take my time, enjoy every minute cos I reckon the Thief games are the best.
Oh, I wondered if anyone would know.. what were those weird ticking devices that dotted the streets in T1 and T2?
Ah well.. just thought I'd say Hi. Stay safe everyone :thumb:

You know, I have recently started playing through the games again too, but for some reason I don't feel like going through them in chronological order. Instead I seem to be going backwards
The winter is making things dark here too (Sweden), and for some reason this makes me want to play the Thief games again. My friend and I are going to use his living room when I reach the Cradle level of Deadly Shadows, and use the TV as a screen and turn the volume up... I wonder how many emotional scars that will leave :joke:
Anyways, I hope it will be as fun (or at least nearly as fun) as playing through the games the first time...
As for the weird ticking devices, I believe they control the streetlights... correct me if I'm wrong.

Hehe I think the various devices were really weird, really added to the atmosphere. You could be right about the lights.
Wow, your gonna really enjoy The Cradle using the TV.. man that was really scary! Don't know if you read PCGamer but they reviewed various game levels and the Cradle was voted the best level ever. Easy to see why I think.
You might have to keep spare underwear nearby just in case it gets a little too scary :laff:

In the Dromed Editor, the ticking things are transformers.

A
screen you say? Sheesh, and all this time I've been using mine as a dartboard!

About a month ago I suddenly realized that I hadn't played any of the
Thief games on my upgraded PC yet, and I''ve been having a blast revisiting them. I also *finally* got myself a copy of
Thief: Deadly Shadows two days ago, and am playing through it for the very first time (gotta love those bargain bin prices) with (

Heh Me too. While playing TDS, I swear I fall off things more times trying to lean forward than from doing anything else. Want to see over the edge of that roof? Lets just take a flying leap, that'll let you see. . .before you die. *coughs* In those cases, I slowly learned to flip to 3rd person and move the camera. Cheating a little, perhaps, but when you dont' have the basic tool, I wasn't sure what else to do.

Me too. A little impractical, isn't it? :joke:
By the way, how have things been on the board the last couple of months? (I haven't visited it in quite a while.) Are there any special projects or interesting new FM's to be released? How is the Dark Mod going?
I try to convince my friend into playing through the Thief series, and he's finally started with TMA (maybe not in chronological order, but still). I just hope more people would come to this board as it seems to have quieted down recently.

I also am a long-goner that is jumping by. I plan on reinstalling Thief and try to take my soul away from the MMORPGs as soon as I can (and that is, after all my exams are finished, or maybe today).
Reading the Thief session on TTLG makes me remind this is one of the best forums I ever visited, and with the smartest posters (well, you have to be smart to play Thief anyway ;) ).
I was wondering if anyone remembers me...
