Not really "real life", but ever since I first played Painkiller, the zombie town level reminded me of the cataclysm in the Old Quarter
Hordes of zombies and raging fires....

TMA-style red brick industrial complex :laff: :cool:

(Real life: The newer (but still old) (http://img.sk.prg.cmestatic.com/media/images/580xX/May2009/2061124.jpg) salt-processing factory in (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pre%C5%A1ov) Prešov. Sadly, the factory closed down about 3 or 4 years ago, (http://presov.korzar.sme.sk/c/6278977/o-sol-sme-prisli-mame-len-tu-z-dovozu.html) ending a 439 years long uninterrupted tradition of processing locally mined salt. The oldest salt mining and processing manufactures from the 16th-17th century are a few kilometres away in another quarter of the city. This new industrial complex was built in the 19th century and extended and rebuilt numerous times. However, these old red brick factory halls were all built between the late 19th century and WWII. Today, they are protected and still stand, even though a lot of the more modern parts of the plant got torn down after its closing.)

(Real life: One of the gargoyles of St. Elisabeth's Cathedral in Košice. The church has already appeared in this thread once. However, I only noticed this particular gargoyle recently, including the weird shape of what seems to be a knight getting crushed under the beast's weight. The conditions for taking the photo were rather fortunate: It was a rainy day and the gargoyle was belching a torrent of water rather dramatically.)

I'm currently staying in Marburg and its old town has, aside from pretty half-timbered houses, an impressive three-dimensional character. One of the Grimm brothers wrote to his friend that there appear to be more stairs on the streets than inside the houses.

Wow, in that second picture that tree on the left looks a lot like one from Thief for sure.

Btw, thanks for all the pictures guys. For those of us who don't/can't travel to interesting places, this is like a way of being there of sorts. ;)
