I've got a childhood memory of a place called Hodge Close which reminds me of the Cragscleft mines.
It's an abandoned quarry with a short tunnel which leads out into a ridiculously deep pool of water. I sat on the end of the mine-cart tracks shown in the picture and watched rocks vanish into obscurity.
