How exactly does the game Jam? Does it throw up an error message then quit or does it lock up into a black screen?
Couple suggestions for solving:
I've heard that DE has trouble running on Win2000 and XP and the people I know had to used a cracked EXE file with their copies to get round it. I've no way to check this for myself.
Secondly - are you getting an install error along the lines of a file being unable to get extracted? If thats the case, its easily fixed. Note what file the error says then explore the CD and manually extract the file into the corresponding DE directory. I had that problem last night with one of the system files but doing it by hand solved it. Dunno what caused it mind as I never remember it happening before.

I got a virus, it killed my video, thats why it wouldn't run, I am installing a newer version of windows (98 SE) (I had 98 but no SE)
that should fix it.,,
