HI
Have posted about this the other day and was told to get some "codecs" but none were specifed and as there are several thousadnds of codecies, I may need some more specific direction than "get some codecs.".
Anyway, I have not wanted to play a game as much as I want to play t3 for as long as I can remember. Very cool
But I cant play for mor then 5 minutes or so and then the screen locks and the sounds start squealing, overlapping and stuttering.
After 10-15 seconds or so, the system reboots.
Have uninstalled and reinstalled audio drivers (most recent release) and uninstalled and reinstalled the game this morning.
Started all over, got through the training to the point of having to steal the purse from the guiy by the fire place, went upstairs, used the night vision, zoomed in and....lock...squeal...reboot.
Dont get it.
No problems with other games.
ASUS A8V Deluxe/ Athlon 64 3500/ XP SP2
Saphire X800 XT PE Cat 5.13
Audigy ZS with most recent driver update released.
Are there updates needed for XP SP2? Codecs? Which ones?
Any help would be great...really want to play this game.
Thanks

Don't start a new thread unless it's entirely necessary. I'd say it'll probably mention what codecs T3 uses in the readme file, or on the official support site. I'll check...
EDIT: Hmm, can't find anything there. I'd try one of the codec packs someone suggested in your other thread- even if some of them aren't the right ones, they can be useful in the future.

I don't suppose anything could be overheating..? ASUS PC Probe should come with your computer, maybe fire it up and set it to keep a log of your system temperatures. I've heard of Sapphire X800 Pros overheating before.

Hmmm... If overheating could be the culprit, have you run any new, demanding games on your computer successfully recently? Because if it is overheating, it is unlikely to only occur in Thief DS. If it is overheating, you might try using some of the stuff mentioned in the T3 tweaking thread to tone down unneeded graphics options, but ultimately you'll want to rearrange things in your PC for better air flow and maybe add some more cooling systems. Though I have little experience with this sort of thing, it could also be that heat decreases the capacity of the power supply and so strangles the power to your other systems and results in a reboot. Although that's really speculation on the level of 'maybe the fairies did it'.

codecies
I think the plural is just "codecs" (CO-mpress/DEC-ompress)
