The problem might not be what you don't have installed but what you have installed. Some third party codec packs can interfere with codecs used by games. Try uninstalling any third party codec packs you have.

I think the only codecs I have up are DivX 5.2.1., indeo (video 5.11/ audio 2.5) and VP3; T3 working fine.
Perhaps this wasn't so much of help to you?
